Lewis Hamilton should have been an eight-time Formula One champion already had the FIA adhered to the rules. During the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP, race director Michael Masi tweaked the safety car rules to keep Hamilton from scripting history. Not only did Lewis lose the race, but the robbery also cost him his record-breaking championship.

Currently, Lewis Hamilton holds the joint record of winning the most championship titles with former legend Michael Schumacher. However, the golden opportunity of edging past his idol was lost in 2021. Meanwhile, Hamilton’s friend, a Grammy winner singer, has backed the British driver of scripting history sometime in the future.

Ever since Lewis Hamilton was denied his eighth championship in 2021 Abu Dhabi, the driver’s form went downhill. The major part of his struggle arose from the car. But overall, the British driver’s confidence also took a hit. He said the scars of robbery will forever remain attached to him. Meanwhile, seven-time Grammy-winning singer and rapper Will.i.am recently backed his friend Hamilton. He says any person will struggle with this kind of massive setback. In his eyes, the Briton is an eight-time world champion. However, the singer understands that he has to prove himself again. But having known Hamilton for years, the rapper feels it’s only a matter of time before he gets back on his feet.

Will.i.am added that Lewis Hamilton is a master of racing. He crossed multiple hurdles in the past. And he is sure Hamilton will figure this downfall with Mercedes as well. Not only that, but the singer feels that once Lewis gets to his record-breaking title, it will take a rival’s age to surpass that milestone. “It’s gonna be some years for that record to be broken. And he will hold that forever,” said Will.i.am. The British driver was surely left with a broken heart after the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. However, his love and passion for racing is very much alive. He intends to make a splashing comeback sooner than later. The Briton signed a two-year extension deal with Mercedes. Moreover, ahead of the 2024 season, the driver seems happy with the new challenger, W15. Perhaps a comeback could be just around the corner.

Undoubtedly, Lewis Hamilton is capable of winning a championship despite being on the last stretch of his career. However, Red Bull’s dominance hinders his ultimate dream. Apparently, former Williams team principal Peter Windsor believes Max Verstappen will continue to be a roadblock in the Briton’s quest for eight championships.

He expects Red Bull and Verstappen to dominate for a few more years. Of course, Lewis Hamilton can close the gap in the next two seasons. However, to outperform the Dutchman to contest for a championship seems a far-fetched dream to Peter Windsor. While Windsor wishes Hamilton could achieve the unimaginable, he is wary of the brutal reality.
