The New York Yankees missed the services of DJ LeMahieu since he hurt his foot in spring training. Moreover, injuries have always been a major concern for the NY side. They suffered a lot of injuries last year. Injuries to key players like Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and rookie Jasson Dominguez were fatal for the Bronx Bombers. As a result, they have not been able to make the postseason for the first time since 2016. On top of that, the NY side finished with a terrible 82-80 record. It means 2023 was their worst season in the last 30 years. Since then, the Yankees have been trying to redeem themselves.

They have formed a strong offensive team with Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Alex Verdugo. When the oldest player in the 40-man Yankees roster returns to the rotation, the hitting department will get a further boost. Moreover, DJ LeMahieu is a quality bat who had a pretty good time in the last half of the 2023 regular season. But it was not a good sign when DJ fractured his right foot in spring training. However, the manager informed me that his recovery has been progressing well.

Previously, Aaron Boone announced that DJ LeMahieu’s foot diagnosis states that it has suffered a non-displaced fracture. Later that same day, the veteran infielder of the NY side hit in the cage to continue his throwing program back when they were in Tampa. Since then, the progress of the right foot of DJ has continued but in very small steps. Greg Joyce of The New York Post mentioned that DJ hit on the field on Tuesday. Later, on Monday, LeMahieu faced ground balls right to him at the Yankees player development complex. Recently, the Yankees skipper pointed at the bigger challenge for the veteran infielder.

Boone told The Post that it would be hard for LeMahieu to move side to side in the defense. On Tuesday, the Yankees manager mentioned that, in the last seven days, the potential leadoff hitter had moved in a good direction. Prior to that, his progress slowed down a bit. Moreover, Boone noted, “It even shut down for a couple of days.” Now, how the Yankees are moving ahead with the recovery of DJ? The Yankees skipper said they will listen to the pain as well as the foot, and LeMahieu will heal as they go.

Moreover, the NY side’s manager talked about the significant step forward they can take for LeMahieu’s rehab program. Boone said that DJ is taking ground balls and not in pain while doing it. He does not need to push through while he does it. Moreover, DJ LeMahieu is moving well.

In addition to all that his foot and toe have been through in the last couple of years, Boone said it is better to ensure that he is not playing with any injury issue that could lead to something worse. Currently, the Yankees are missing the top players on their roster—Gerrit Cole and DJ LeMahieu, both of whom are on the Injured List.
