The New York Yankees were looking for redemption this winter. They were coming from a disastrous season. Moreover, they failed to make the postseason in 2023. The wounds are still fresh for the fans. After all, this team has been the most successful team in the history of the sport. The NY side has won the World Series a record 27 times. Moreover, the last time they reached the “Big Dance” was back in 2009. That was the last time they won a World Series. Hence, it has been too long of a wait for the fans and the organization. Anyhow, the offseason activities this winter must raise hopes of the Yankees Nation. Not only did they solve the issue of lack of offensive power, but they also looked like the best outfield in baseball in terms of WAR.

Thanks to the entry of the Dominican superstar Juan Soto, along with him came Trent Grisham, and prior to them, he entered Alex Verdugo. However, signing this elite group of outfielders cost the Yankees their bullpen depth. Hence, the fans hoped to see the Japanese sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto join the Pinstripes. However, things took a different turn, and the Los Angeles Dodgers snatched him away from the Bronx Bombers. But the next big thing was Blake Snell. Again, the Yankees took a different turn, they signed Marcus Stroman instead.

Why It Is Better For Yankees To Sign Stroman Instead Of Snell?

The Yankees signed the veteran Marcus Stroman for a two-year deal worth $37 million. On the other hand, Blake Snell needed an expensive deal for the long term to join the Pinstripes. Albeit, the NY side offered Snell a deal, the two-time Cy Young Award winner turned them down. Recently, Fox Sport’s Ben Verlander has been saying that he likes the starting rotation of the Bronx Bombers with Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, and Marcus Stroman. But the Yankees Nation criticized him, saying that Rodon was not good for the Bombers even when he was healthy. However, Verlander counters the argument, saying that it’s unfair toward Rodon because injuries really let him down last season.

The Fox Sports reporter feels that if Rodon is healthy, he will be able to prove that he’s an absolute stud. Moreover, Ben Verlander pointed out how much time Rodon missed, even without spring training to ramp up. Also, Ben talked about his brother Justin Verlander and Marcus Stroman as well that injuries and lack of game time hampered their productivity. Ben Verlander has high hopes that if the two veteran duos stay healthy, they will be great pieces for the Yankees’ rotation. But Verlander knows that the Yankees ace would definitely be Gerrit Cole.

Juan Soto And Marcus Stroman Would Like To Forget The Past To Win Games For Their New Team

Ben Verlander believes Marcus Stroman is a great personality to have for the club. Back in 2019, Stroman fired off some critical tweets about the pitching staff of his current team. Last season, Stroman did the “Soto Shuffle” after striking out the Dominican slugger.

Lately, Juan Soto mentioned that now he and Marcus Stroman can shuffle together. For the Yankees Nation, let’s just hope that the duo shall win together. On top of that, Stroman backs up his words in 2024 on the mound. Moreover, Soto shall definitely uplift the team’s offense as well as outfield.
