That being said, unforeseen injury setbacks are inevitable in baseball. Moreover, the New York Yankees possess an aging core group that is highly susceptible to health concerns. If the 2024 MLB season starts today, the New York Yankees core will look to consist of Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, DJ LeMahieu, Anthony Rizzo, and Gleyber Torres. Out of this, Judge, LeMahieu and Rizzo are highly prone to injuries. Thus, injuries are bound to happen when the Yanks enter the 2024 season in a couple of months. That is when the bench strength comes in for rescue. As of this writing, the team bench strength would consist of Oswald Peraza, Austin Wells, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Trent Grisham. Additionally, Giancarlo Stanton and Alex Verdugo will split time once Jasson Dominguez returns mid-season. Having said that, the success of any team is not solely dependent on its star players.

The contributions from the bench play a crucial role in navigating the challenges of a grueling baseball season. Injuries are an inevitable part of baseball, and having a resilient and talented bench becomes crucial when star players are sidelined. Meanwhile, the Yankees have experienced their fair share of injuries in recent seasons, making the need for a dependable bench even more pressing. A long and demanding season requires strategic workload management, especially for key players. The bench provides the opportunity to rest and rotate regular starters, preventing fatigue and optimizing performance during critical stretches of the season. Thus, to ensure consistency and long-term success in 2024, the Bronx Bombers will need its bench strength to exceed expectations, or else a repeat of the 2023 season is just the writing on the wall.
