Jasson Dominguez has been the top prospect of the New York Yankees since last year. But 2023 was a very tough time for the NY side. Nothing was going right for the 27-time champions. It was one of the worst seasons in the Bronx Bomber’s history. Moreover, the NY side finished with an awful 82-80 record. They had the second-worst batting average after the Oakland Athletics. Hence, there were a lot of worrying signs. But the biggest problem was the long Injured List. From veterans to rookies, everybody had their names on the list at least once last year. It was very hard to find stability in their rotation.

But the biggest blow was the injury to the captain. After Aaron Judge suffered the toe injury in the freak accident at the Los Angeles Dodgers fence, it was all over for the Yankees last year. They did not have any star hitter they could rely on. But 2024 looks like it will be a different year. They have Juan Soto in the mix. Already, they look like one of the best rotations in the league. But the NY side must make sure the players, especially the rookies, stay healthy. Dominguez had to undergo Tommy John surgery, and as a result, he is still undergoing recovery.

Despite A Speedy Recovery, Jasson Dominguez Can Only Start In The Middle Of The Season

Recently, Erik Boland, a Yankees reporter, informed that Jasson Dominguez was working in the outfield at the minor league complex on Monday. Moreover, the rookie underwent Tommy John surgery right after the end of the 2023 season. Hence, he can return soon enough as in the role of the Designated Hitter. But the franchise won’t take a chance on him as in the candidate for an outfielder until somewhere around the middle of the season. He is just 21 years old. Moreover, Jasson Dominguez smacked four home runs while facing only 31 at-bats.

Later, his good run in his MLB debut stopped because he suffered an injury. In 2024, Dominguez will enter the league as the No. 41 prospect in the whole game of baseball. Until he returns to the outfield, the Yankees will have Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo as well as Trent Grisham playing in the outfield. Last year, the NY side finished third in the American League East. They missed the postseason for the first time since 2016. Hence, the Yankees would like to redeem themselves in 2024.

How Talented The Yankees Top Prospect Really Is?

In the case of Jasson Dominguez, his prospect profile on MLB.com states that his prodigious power is his signature tool. He generates that with tremendous bat speed and massive strength on the plate on both sides. Moreover, Dominguez must be more regular in case of driving the ball in the air. That’s how he can maximize his home run potential. However, he does look to turn on the pitches.

Moreover, Jasson’s approach can be confusing for the scouts at times. It is because, occasionally, his approach looks disciplined. Then, again, it can also look passive at times. Anyhow, at the end of the day, he draws more than he walks. Adding to that, Jasson Dominguez also accrues a lot of strikeouts.
