The New York Yankees were desperately looking for a superstar outfielder. They really needed one to bolster their offense. It was terrible in the last few seasons. However, the NY side used a lot of pitchers to sign the players they wanted this offseason. And there were some whom the Bronx Bombers just got rid of because they were just not fitting in the roster anymore. As a result, the Yankees can see a sudden worsening situation over their bullpen. Moreover, they had set their eyes on Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the superstar Japanese ace pitcher. In fact, the Yankees were the front runners to land the Japanese ace.

But eventually, the NY side lost the bidding war to the Los Angeles Dodgers. It came as a big blow to the offseason plans of the NY franchise. Hence, all the happiness that the Yankees Nation felt after they knew the team landed Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres is gradually turning to be a worrying sign. Some fans believe it won’t be enough to have Juan Soto and Aaron Judge on the roster to win a title. They need quality pitchers.

Yankees Faithful Looking For More From The Offseason

A Yankees Fan site, Bleeding Yankee Blue, stated that the team needs more than just bringing Juan Soto this offseason. Initially, the Yankees GM said they were looking for a couple of superstar lefty sluggers and one top quality pitcher. Later, they got Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo to cover their deficit in the outfield. However, the pitching department is getting worse, with other teams landing top pitchers. Moreover, the Yankees Faithful wonder what the next move is in this offseason. So far, they have made one legit move, and that’s landing Juan Soto for a year. Albeit, that’s not enough, one year can say a lot about a player’s value in a certain team.

The older generation of Yankee fans really miss the time of the Evil Empire. Old fans remember the giants of the game walking on the outfield for the NY side, like Micky Mantle, Ron Guidry, and so on. Moreover, these older and wiser fans feel the team is not getting any better in recent times. It might be true, as the last offseason saw Carlos Rodon join the franchise. But he was awful in 2023. Hence, the Yankees Nation has not really seen any progress in the past two or three years.

Indeed, The Pinstripes Had To Look For The Best-Quality Outfielders

The NY side had the worst batting average in 2023, only second to the Oakland Athletics. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers disappointed the fans immensely this year as they failed to make the postseason. The last time they didn’t make the postseason was back in 2016.

Moreover, the Pinstripes suffered because of their long Injured List. Hence, they need healthy players and a strong outfield to make it to the postseason in 2024. That’s what the front office has been trying to accomplish this offseason. Moreover, the Yankees had a pretty good depth in their bullpen before the ongoing offseason started.
