The New York Yankees look to sign some lefty outfielders to bolster their roster. They really need some help to improve their offense. Moreover, the Yankees depend too much on their captain, Aaron Judge. He is the only superstar outfielder the NY side has got. That’s the reason why the 27-time champions have been looking for some elite hitters if available in the market. For instance, Juan Soto, a lefty outfielder, is a viable option for Brian Cashman’s side. The San Diego Padres hitter is a superstar and will be pretty costly for the NY side. Moreover, rumors suggest that the Padres may not trade him this offseason.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are trying to create more cap space. That’s the reason why they released a lot of players from their 40-man roster. But if they can’t get a superstar lefty outfielder like Juan Soto, then what’s the point? However, there is another option for a lefty slugger available, who the Yankees can surely land. He’s Cody Bellinger. Cody’s father was a former Yankee. Hence, he practically grew up in the Yankees household. Moreover, Cody has a World Series title on his impressive resume. But the question is, then, why the Yankees are hesitating in signing him?

The most important job of the Yankees this offseason is to fix their offense. If they successfully improve the middle of their lineup, they can be back in the postseason next year. On numerous occasions, rumors suggested a potential link between Cody Bellinger and the Yankees. However, as per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Bronx Bombers have some concerns over the unpredictable slugger. Albeit, Cody Bellinger had a brilliant season with the Chicago Cubs, the Yankees worry about his hard-hit rate. Bellinger hit .306, coming from injuries in the previous couple of seasons. Moreover, he looks like a perfect choice for the Yankees roster.

Bellinger is an excellent lefty center fielder. He can fit perfectly alongside captain Aaron Judge. But some analytics work against him feels Heyman. Bellinger doesn’t whiff like Joey Gallo, who can hit .279. He also gets a couple of strikes as he puts the ball in play. But Heyman feels hard-hit rates favor guys like Gallo. Anyhow, Bellinger is an interesting proposition for the Yankees. He can really help the NY side in the center field. But he might also land a massive contract. Over a year, Cody and the Yankees have a link. But no real confirmation of a new contract yet. Who knows if the Yankees will lose him again?

Offense Is The Biggest Question Mark This Offseason

Last season, the Bronx Bombers really struggled because of their weak offense. The defense was more or less good, but the offense is the biggest question mark for the NY side. Moreover, the weak offense led to their downfall last season. The 27-time champions could not qualify for the postseason for the first time since 2016.

Moreover, the Bronx Bombers finished the season with an 82-80 record. In short, the last season was a disaster for the Yankees. They had several names on their Injured List. Hence, the Bronx Bombers are under a lot of pressure at present. They need players who can replace the injured ones next season. But they can’t afford every big name available in the market.
