The New York Yankees are gearing up for the Spring Training. They should feel optimistic ahead of the training because they made some significant changes this offseason. And they really needed that. After all, the 2023 season was nothing short of a big disappointment. They ended with an awful 82-80 record. As a result, the NY side faced their worst season in the last 30 years. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers had the second-worst batting average last year. They had it better than only the nine-time World Series winners, the Oakland Athletics. Finally, the front office came up with a “Measured approach.” As a result, the Yankees went all-in for the Dominican superstar, Juan Soto. Along with the best hitter in baseball, the Yankees received Trent Grisham from the San Diego Padres.

Other than that, the Bronx Bombers received Alex Verdugo from their arch-rivals, the Boston Red Sox. Besides the outfielders, the Yankees signed Marcus Stroman for a two-year deal worth $37 million. Moreover, the 27-time champions have also been looking for a more dependable pitcher. For instance, Blake Snell is a favorite to sign with the NY side. On top of that, Cody Bellinger, another Scott Boras agent, is an outfielder still available in the market. Even the Yankees are favorites to land him. But they are not thinking about that at the moment. Hence, the team is trying to figure out the best possible rotation during the Spring Training.

First of all, who are the top choices for the catcher’s role in the Yankees rotation? If he can stay healthy, Jose Trevino will be the starting catcher this year. Last year, injuries shortened his season. But in 2024, the former All-Star backstop would like to lead the team to greater things. Then, as his backup, the Yankees can use Ben Rortvedt. Even Ben needs to redeem himself this year. Besides Ben, there is Austin Wells as a backup option for a catcher. Other than catchers, the Yankees need answers on their young pitching department. Will Warren, Clayton Beeter, and Chase Hampton are some of the young arms in their farm system who will show their stuff at camp.

More questions like, who will fill the place of Jhony Brito and Randy Vasquez? In the case of the outfield, there is a question about the batting order. But defensively, how is Aaron Boone planning to deploy their outfield? Besides Aaron Judge, there is Soto, Verdugo and Grisham. It is still a question mark regarding their position in the outfield. Moreover, the fans and the team in general have worries about the starter’s health. Can they stay healthy? Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes and Marcus Stroman are good but injuries are always a big concern. Finally, the batting order, who’s hitting where? Judge and Soto will take second and third spots, respectively, or vice versa. What about Anthony Volpe and Gleyber Torres? DJ LeMahieu will possibly be the leadoff hitter.

It might be the best chance for the Yankees to win a World Series after such a long time. They have the perfect lineup. The AL MVP 2022 and the best hitter in baseball can turn the luck of the Bombers on its head. Now, the question is if they can beat the Baltimore Orioles to win the AL East. Clearly, the Orioles are the team to beat in the American League East. They had their best season in franchise history last year.

Moreover, they signed Corbin Burnes, making their lineup stronger. On the other hand, the Yankees might have a shaky starting pitcher group. Albeit, the 2023 Cy Young winner is always a reliable face. Now, can this rotation help the Bombers end their World Series drought? That’s the question everybody’s wondering.
