Aaron Judge

MLB analysts feel that the New York Yankees have underpaid their skipper, Aaron Judge, in comparison to Rafael Devers.

The New York Yankees took every step in the right direction this off-season to build a strong bullpen. As a matter of fact, the Bronx Bombers have been awaiting a championship title since 2009. Hence, the club is desperate to edge past Astros and get hold of that trophy. FYI, the Yankees came close last season but fell short after being knocked out by the Houston Astros in the ALCS.

Meanwhile, this off-season, Brian Cashman, along with other members of the Yankee front office, came out with a plan to bring strong talents on board. The Bombers acquired pitcher Carlos Rodon for a stellar six-year deal. Moreover, the club created history by retaining their captain, Aaron Judge, for a humongous nine-year contract worth $360 million. However, a certain section of fans and analysts feel that the outfielder is underpaid.

Rafael Devers and Aaron Judge, both basemen, had a terrific off-season. While Aaron became the highest-paid player in the history of MLB with $360 million, Devers landed an 11-year contract worth $331 million. Both players seem to have gotten a much-deserved contract. However, certain MLB analysts feel that Judge deserved a lot more than he received and apparently got underpaid by the Yankees. This analysis is done considering the aura that both players carry.

Meanwhile, if we compare, Rafael has a longer contract compared to Aaron. Moreover, Devers is younger than Judge. Also, Aaron Judge has a better shot at entering the Hall of Fame at the end of his stint with the Yankees. On the other hand, Aaron Judge is earning a lot more on an average one-year basis. Hence, in accordance with contract risk management, it appears that Aaron Judge’s contract with the Yankees looks much stronger and better than Rafael Devers’s.

Boston Red Sox baseman’s current contract was supposed to end in 2024. However, before Devers became a free agent, the Red Sox decided to extend Rafael’s current contract and offered him a much longer deal. Rafael signed a prolonged 11-year deal with Boston worth around $331 million. However, the Red Sox are looking to rebuild their bullpen and are likely to be a little less competitive.

On the other hand, the New York Yankees look much stronger for the 2023 season. Along with Aaron Judge, they bought Carlos Rodon for the next six years. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers retained Anthony Rizzo and Tommy Kahnle in short-term deals. However, they still lack a potential left-field option after Andrew Benintendi left. Apart from that, the New York Yankees lineup looks strong and might go on to clinch that championship title.
