When Aaron Judge entered free agency, denying the Yankees\’ offer, we knew the battle for him was going to be interesting. However, Aaron Judge\’s free agency saga has exceeded all of our expectations, November is almost ending, and nothing has been confirmed yet. There are several teams in Judge\’s pursuit, like New York Mets and the Dodgers. However, the Yankees and San Francisco Giants remain the most likely landing spots for Aaron Judge. And none of them are taking their chances lightly.
Chris Mullin Appeals Aaron Judge To \”Come Back Home\”!
The New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner and GM Brian Cashman have revealed that they are in talks with Aaron Judge. And even proposed a more lucrative deal to the prolific slugger. On the other hand, San Francisco Giants also do not seem to be slowing down in their pursuit of Judge. Previously the team flexed its financial prowess saying that no amount is too big for Aaron Judge. But they are not just stopping there.
The San Francisco Giants have called in reinforcements in the form of non-baseball sporting to help their cause. On Wednesday, there were reports that the Golden State Warriors star and one of the greatest NBA shooters, Steph Curry, tried to persuade Judge to join the Giants. Now, another NBA legend from the Warriors has also appealed the same to Aaron Judge. Mullin asked Judge to return home as the Yankees slugger is a Bay area native. And the San Francisco Giants were his favorite team while growing up. Judge can now sign with any baseball team as a free agent, regardless of division.
With the New York Yankees in 2022, Aaron Judge enjoyed a significant season. With 62 home runs, he broke the American League single-season record for home runs while also dominating almost all other significant offensive categories. He played 157 games, hitting.313/.425/.686 and even stealing 13 bases. He received 28 out of 30 first-place votes, which was not surprising, and was named the AL MVP.
Meanwhile, Mullin is well accustomed to the jeers of New Yorkers since, during his four seasons as St. John\’s coach from 2015 to 2019, he had a 59-73 record and won only 20 games in the Big East. In April 2019, after his brother passed away, he submitted his resignation, citing a personal loss.
Although it is believed that the Yankees will be the Giants\’ primary rivals in their pursuit of Judge, the Los Angeles Dodgers are apparently preparing their own offer. Fans of the Giants will understandably be frustrated if the club does not acquire Judge this summer. It would be a terrible turn of events, though, if he decided to sign with another National League West team.
