CM Punk

Recently on Tuesday, CM Punk appeared on ESPN’s SportsNation and opened up about what event helped him consider joining All Elite Wrestling. Punk already informed the fans several times that he had been in contact with AEW’s president Tony Khan for years. But there came a moment that completely convinced him that he should join AEW.

CM Punk was impressed by how AEW managed the unfortunate demise of Brodie Lee (aka Luke Harper). The former TNT champion was dealing with several health issues and unfortunately passed away at the age of 41. According to him, this event revealed a lot about the locker room of AEW.

CM Punk’s Interview With SportsNation

Wrestling Inc posted the transcription of Punk’s interview with SportsNation, where he explained why he decided to choose AEW over WWE for his most anticipated return. Punk stated that the company kind of helped breathe life back into his love for professional wrestling. He saw a young guy starting the company, which is full of what he calls punk rock youthful exuberance. He was very eager to learn and soak up everything that this young talent can do, and it was new and exciting for him.

Later, CM Punk explained the event where he made up his mind about going to AEW. Punk talked about the death of Brodie Lee that took place in December 2020. He said the company knew every single thing about him, including his sickness, but they didn’t reveal it to anyone. Punk added that the wrestlers used to say how all the boys are a big family, but that’s not true at all. But the guys in AEW proved it right as they came together to keep a secret about Brodie’s health. The fact that it didn’t pop up on any website and it was a secret until the very end shocked him. That is when he decided to join AEW. He saw something different in its locker room

CM Punk made his long-awaited in-return at the August 20 episode of AEW Rampage. When his entrance music hits, we witnessed the loudest pop that was ever made by the audience in AEW. After his return, he cut a promo on why he chose to return to the ring. He didn’t waste any time in challenging Darby Allin for a match at AEW All Out. CM Punk is also scheduled for the All Out go-home episode of AEW Dynamite, where he will likely come face to face with Darby Allin.

CM Punk will return to the ring after seven long years against Darby Allin at the upcoming PPV event. AEW All Out is all set to take place on Sunday, September 5, 2021
