Juan Soto, the New York Yankees outfielder, has been lived to his generational star title this season. However, the superstar’s trip to Bronx will last only until the end of the year as he is set to hit free agency in 2025 as one of the most coveted picks.

That being said, the New York Yankees are keen on extending Juan Soto if an opportunity pops up. But payroll issues will bug Hal Steinbrenner. Meanwhile, former Yankee great Alex Rodriguez opened up on Soto’s future and urged the Bronx Bombers not to let Soto hit free agency with a unique analogy.

Juan Soto will be the man everybody wants next off-season. The 25-year-old generational talent with three-time All-Star recognition is expected to shatter free agency records with the help of notorious player agent Scott Boras. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees have expressed their desire to extend Soto. However, Hal Steinbrenner retraced from his original statement, saying he is also wary of the ‘unsustainable’ payroll. Additionally, while Juan is open to considering a future in the Bronx as he is in love with the city of New York already, the outfielder has his doors open for rival teams as well. Amid several rumors and speculations, former Yankee great Alex Rodriguez weighed his opinion and shared a valuable piece of advice for the billion-dollar franchise.

Alex Rodriguez, while speaking on the Michael Kay Show, urged the New York Yankees to preserve Juan Soto in an extension deal before he hits free agency. “If you’re dating a girl that you love, then you wanna marry her. And that’s the same way I feel about Juan Soto,” Rodriguez said. The ex-Yankee explained that the Yanks could not afford to let Soto test free agency waters as Mets owner Steve Cohen has the ability to outbid every rival whatsoever. Alex also added that while Soto won’t come easy, the front office must give in everything they have to prevent the guy from hitting the free market next year. Notably, the Mets have emerged as the leading landing spot for Juan alongside the New York Yankees. However, the $500 million market value will end up being the deciding factor as both city rivals will have to carefully evaluate their long-term priorities.

Alex Rodriguez Confident Of Juan Soto’s Early Comeback From Injury

Juan Soto is down with forearm inflammation injury and is being treated day-to-day. He skipped the three-game home series against LA Dodgers as precautionary measure with a return against Royals likely. That being said, despite the abrupt scare, Alex Rodriguez is confident of Yankees doing right by Soto.

“The key is not to rush him, the key is to have him very healthy,” Rodriguez said on the Michael Kay show. The former Yankee further added that this season, the Yankees lineup is more diverse and balanced compared to last year. Hence, even if they end up losing Soto for a couple of weeks, it won’t drastically affect the team’s performance.
