Red Bull’s star driver, Max Verstappen, has been simply unstoppable since 2021. Albeit he won his maiden World Championship in 2021, the most dominant racer back then was Lewis Hamilton. Moreover, Mercedes eventually won the constructor title that year for the eighth time on the trot. However, the Dutch racer was able to bring a shift to the hegemony of the great English racer. Since then, Hamilton has remained winless. On the other hand, Max went on to break all sorts of F1 records, and there are many more to come.
At the moment, Max Verstappen is the favorite to win his fourth World Championship in a row. Still, no driver seems capable of challenging the Dutchman for the title in 2024. Max has won three of the first four races already. He had a shocking DNF in the Australian Grand Prix this year. But then in Japan, which is kind of a home race for Red Bull because of their engine partner Honda, the Dutch racer came back on top of the grid again. Max Verstappen Getting Ready For A Challenging Chinese GP
It is going to be potentially a historic F1 weekend as the sport is getting back to China after four years. Due to COVID-19, F1 stopped having a GP in Shanghai. But 2024 sees a return of the Chinese Grand Prix. Moreover, the current triple-time reigning champion has never won in China. The best result for Max Verstappen in Shanghai was a third-place finish. Lately, Dutch racers have told the media, including RacingNews365, that the format of the Chinese GP will present challenges to Red Bull and him. After all, F1 is going to have its first-ever sprint race weekend in China.
Nevertheless, Max said they are all looking forward to the weekend in China. It is going to be a tough one as it is the first sprint race of the year. Moreover, the teams have not raced on that track since 2019, and one practice session makes things more challenging for everybody. Max Verstappen noted that it will be about ensuring that the team has done good work on the setup of the car, and also, they must manage the tires well. But Max also acknowledged the fact that the added element makes fans more excited. He said that’s good, and the Red Bull team has been preparing really hard for the race.
The Dutchman Always Loved The Track In Shanghai
Max Verstappen told the media, including RacingNews365, that the race track in China is great. The layout is pretty unique. On top of that, the corners are trickier. But Max believes the long straights will present every driver plenty of opportunities to overtake. Finally, the Dutch racer noted that he always loved racing in Shanghai on that track. Hence, he and his team look forward to the new weekend and challenges that will come.
Moreover, the track is even more special for Red Bull because Sebastian Vettel won the first pole position in qualifying for the team and himself in China. Currently, the tally of pole positions for Red Bull is at 99. Hence, either Max Verstappen or his teammate Sergio Perez has the chance to get the 100th pole position for Red Bull. It will make Red Bull the sixth F1 team to get to three figures, behind Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, Mercedes, and Lotus. Hence, a historic weekend in China awaits every F1 and Red Bull fan.
