CHECKOUT: Red Bull Boss’ Investigation Likely To Be Out Soon

The Red Bull team was going through a purple patch for so long. Everything seems to be going their way. There were no big controversies around the Austrian team. However, when the cost cap era began, the Austrian outfit had to pay a $7 million fine as well as a 10% reduction in their wind tunnel time for breaching the cost cap limit. That was a big lesson for every team in the sport to follow the new regulations. Anyhow, since then, the Milton Keynes team was just enjoying their dominance in the grid.

Moreover, after a long time, Red Bull returned to the top of the standings. Christian Horner could not have been happier as a team principal. However, it seems the phrase is true that every good thing has an expiry date. Albeit, Red Bull as a team still looks the strongest, it is the team principal who is in big trouble. Lately, a female colleague at Red Bull Racing accused Christian Horner of inappropriate behavior. However, the Austrian outfit has not stated anything clearly so far. But it seems like there is an investigation going on, and it might go on for a while.

The parent company, Red Bull GmbH, is leading an internal investigation and they also appointed an independent lawyer to carry out the process. As per reports, the lawyer is already working to gather as much data on the alleged incident as possible. The Red Bull boss will meet the lawyer in central London soon. It is not a legal matter and hence it is not a hearing. But Craig Slater of Sky Sports mentioned it is more like a meeting that gives Christian Horner a chance to explain his version of the story. Slater also said that the meeting should start mid-morning on Friday. It might run for the majority of the day. On Sky Sports News, Slater mentioned that it is better not to expect an outcome of the process today.

Adding to that, Slater also noted that Red Bull is taking the allegations very seriously. He said it relates to controlling and quite possibly coercive behavior on Horner’s part. But the Red Bull boss has “Emphatically denied the allegations.” However, Slater feels it might just be the first step. And the duration of the investigation might not follow the “Formula One time-table.” Moreover, the investigators pledged to be thorough about this. They would like to come to a fair and clear solution. The process might conclude in advance of the RB20 launch.

As of now, there are two major stories circulating regarding what happened. As per some loyal people to Christian Horner, it is about an internal power struggle. Helmut Marko, the Red Bull advisor, perhaps wants Horner out of the picture. Moreover, the Austrian owners are in favor of Helmut Marko.

On the other hand, Horner has the support of some Thai owners. Red Bull has responded saying only that it concerns certain accusations. Moreover, according to the Daily Mail, the female executive at Red Bull Racing is still working in the Milton Keynes factory.
