New York Yankees are known for its uniqueness and traditional esteemed culture. George Steinbrenner built the franchise with a revolutionary vision ages ago. However, baseball dynamics have continued to evolve over the years. The modern-day baseball is poles apart from what fans witnessed a couple of decades ago.

However, the New York Yankees still continue to carry on a few policies and traditions. For instance, the no-hair policy still runs within the organization despite severe backlash. Having said that, ahead of the 2024 MLB season, the Bronx Bombers appear to embrace a new change, this time with its road jerseys.

The New York Yankees historically gained massive recognition for its iconic pinstripe home jersey. However, their away game jerseys are similarly popular. Since 1973, the franchise adopted a grey jersey embedded with a white outlined “New York” logo. Regardless, for this season, rumors suggest significant incoming changes. As per multiple media reports, the Bombers have decided to get rid of the white outline around the ‘New York’ logo. Not only that, the sleeve trim will also be eliminated as a part of the revamp process. While the idea behind the sudden change is unknown, it seems to be an attempt to break through the tarnished image. In 2023, the Yanks witnessed a horror run owing to postseason elimination.

Thus, by rebranding the road game uniform, perhaps the Yankees intend to convey the message of a new outlook toward the future. Having said that, only time will tell if the rebranding brings any luck. However, the fate of NYY lies within their own hands. The time to rely on fate and luck has gone by. Producing a comeback in 2024 is not just a dream but a necessity. Of course, the franchise’s leadership understands the stakes. And worked accordingly this off-season to build a robot’s roster. The glaring holes in left field and starting rotation have been duly addressed. Besides, the leading concern about the offense was also resolved with the addition of superstar Juan Soto. All things said and done, the New York Yankees have positioned themselves as perennial contenders for the World Series championship in 2024, at least on paper.

Meanwhile, New York Yankees newly acquired outfielder Alex Verdugo sent the fans into a frenzy with the latest social media activity. Apparently, alert fans noticed a change in Verdugo’s Instagram handle. He changed his username from “dugie99” to “dugie24,” suggesting his alleged choice of jersey number with the Bronx Bombers.

Verdugo arrived in the Bronx via trade this off-season. But he has yet to pick a jersey number for himself. The likes of Gary Sanchez, Tino Martinez, and Robinson Cano, amongst many others, donned the number 24 before. The last person to wear number 24 for the Bombers was Chris Young in 2015. Now, it seems Alex Verdugo is set to enter the list in the upcoming season.
