Undoubtedly, Max Verstappen and Red Bull have been absolutely phenomenal this year. They remained unbeaten for fourteen races in this season. But in Singapore, the team had to face a difficult weekend as they are still not sure what went wrong in Marina Bay. On the other hand, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz grabbed the opportunity and won his first race this year. But the Spanish driver is not the only racer who impressed the fans in Singapore.
McLaren’s Lando Norris and Mercedes driver George Russell had a tough fight for a P2 finish until the latter ended up on an unfortunate DNF. In the end, Norris gained another P2 finish, and Russell’s teammate Lewis Hamilton finished at P3. On the other hand, Max Verstappen had a shocking race as he finished at P5. In the last few laps of the Singapore Grand Prix, four drivers – Sainz, Norris, Russell, and Hamilton went for the win. But as usual, there can be only one winner. And in this case, it was Carlos Sainz Jr. However, Red Bull believes the loss in Singapore won’t affect their remaining races this season.
Max Verstappen Points Out A Possible Threat For Him And His Team
Max Verstappen is eager to win the championship for Red Bull itself in the next Grand Prix in Japan. They believe the Suzuka track should suit RB19 better than what happened in Marina Bay. Hence, Max Verstappen is ready to put the underwhelming performance of Singapore behind him. Moreover, Verstappen believes they did not have the strongest weekend in Singapore. But it won’t matter as there is no real rush. All they need to do at present is analyze everything one at a time. Eventually, Verstappen believes his team will get there. Adding to that, Max Verstappen mentioned on the simulator the Suzuka track felt really nice.
Generally, that indicates everything is going to come pretty easily. And that’s exactly what Max Verstappen is hoping for this weekend. However, tension is rising as McLaren’s Lando Norris is rising steadily. Recently, in an interview, the Dutchman mentioned the way Norris is showing improvement is remarkable. Especially to think from where they were at the beginning of the season, and now they are gaining podium finishes almost every time. Hence, Max Verstappen sure thinks McLaren and Norris will be strong in Japan as well. However, the Red Bull star expects to be ahead of McLaren’s car.
Sergio Perez Expects The Japanese Grand Prix To Be An Easy Win For Red Bull
However, Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez has recently revealed that the team still does not know what went wrong in Singapore. However, the goal is always to stay at the front row on the final race day. That is always the target. Moreover, Checo mentioned the team might have some clues as to what went wrong in Singapore. However, Checo sounds pretty confident about the Japanese Grand Prix.
He believes the Suzuka track is pretty different from Marina Bay. Hence, they can win the race easily again without much hindrance, like what happened in Singapore. Red Bull expects to be very strong in Japan this weekend. Moreover, Sergio Perez mentioned it should be among the best circuits for them so far this season.
