It is not new for the Los Angeles Lakers to make some blockbuster trades over the years. If the LA side had not signed some famous players over the years, they would be a different team than the fan knows them to be. Since the Showtime era with Jerry Buss as the new owner of the Lakers, they have signed the most famous players in the league. From Kareem Abdul-Jabbar-Magic Johnson era to Shaquille O’Neal-Kobe Bryant era.

However, it won’t kill them to bring more stars to the roster, especially someone like Giannis Antetokounmpo. LeBron James is 39 and may not play for five more years. Anthony Davis is also way too injury-prone. Both James and Davis have not managed to play more than 60 games in each of the last three seasons. If the LA Lakers actually bring the Greek Freak on the table, they would have a younger and healthier superstar who they can bet on for the future.

Can Giannis Antetokounmpo Get A Better Opportunity With The Lakers?

Now, only a blockbuster trade can bring the Greek Freak to a championship-winning franchise. Of all teams, the Lakers have the best chance to sign Giannis Antetokounmpo. Moreover, the Greek Freak is willing to change teams for the sake of winning another title. Earlier this summer, in an interview with the New York Times, Giannis Antetokounmpo gave hints about his desire to leave the Milwaukee Bucks. Lately, Giannis has made his opinion clearer, saying that he believes he is a winner.

And if any opportunity is there for him to win the Larry O’Brien Award, he will grab it. Hence, the Greek Freak may not be too far away from having the Lakers as his franchise in the not-so-distant future. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo is not willing to force his way out of the Bucks franchise. He still believes he is a Milwaukee Buck. But in order to win a title again, he will take any better situation that might be waiting for him. Perhaps that better situation will take the Greek Freak right to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The LA Side Never Had A Shortage Of Superstars

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was already the Captain of the side even before Jerry Buss got the ownership. However, Buss bought the next best thing, Magic Johnson, who helped the LA side win five titles in the 1980s. Since that decade, the LA side became the ‘Showtime Lakers.’ Later, the two great superstars of the early 21st century, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, as a great duo, helped the side win three more titles. After O’Neal moved to the Miami Heat, Bryant led the Lakers to win two more titles in the 2000s decade. Hence, it was another five titles in a decade for the Lakers.

Currently, the Lakers have the great duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading them brilliantly. However, as of now, they have managed to win just one title, which came during the pandemic period in 2020. Lately, the Lakers Nation is enjoying the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, since 2020, the Lakers have managed only to reach the conference finals once that happened in the previous season. They have the services of the two great stars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, for a few more years, hopefully.
