CHECKOUT: Carlos Rodon Confident About Bouncing Back In His Second Season With The Yankees

The New York Yankees signed Carlos Rodon last winter. But the 2023 season did not go according to their plans. It was Rodon’s first season with the 27-time champions, and he blew it. Very early in the previous season, the former Chicago White Sox pitcher sustained several injuries. As a result, he never really got into a rhythm. But it was really worrying signs for the NY side because they bought him with a monster deal. The lefty starting pitcher signed a six-year deal worth $162 million. Moreover, fans really hoped to see Rodon play the supporting role of the 2023 AL Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole. But he could not live up to the expectations of the team and the fans.

Now, as the regular season is approaching, Carlos Rodon feels healthy and confident enough. That’s what the Yankees need right now. Health is the key for Rodon. Also, the Yankees did not add any ace pitcher to throw alongside Cole in the offseason. They added the starting pitcher, Marcus Stroman. But the Yankees have been looking for a more dependable starter. And if Rodon stays healthy, then the team can solve a lot of problems this season.

Recently, in an interview with YES Network’s Jack Curry, Carlos Rodon mentioned that he is pretty good at baseball. Hence, he feels he should be good to go. All he needs to do is to “Stay on the mound,” feels Rodon. He is confident that he can bounce back hard this year. Then, Rodon can step up as the No. 2 starter behind the reigning American League’s Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole. Earlier in his career, Carlos Rodon had to deal with injury woes as well. Despite these injury issues, Rodon had a breakout year with the Chicago White Sox, and later, he moved to San Francisco.

Moreover, he performed well for the San Francisco Giants. As a result, he became an All-Star in back-to-back seasons (2021 and 2022). That’s why the Yankees landed Rodon with a huge contract last winter. However, he struggled in his first year with the Bronx Bombers owing to injuries. He would never want to repeat that. Hence, Health is indeed the key to having a great season. Moreover, Carlos Rodon has plenty of time to make things right with this monster contract of his with the Yankees.

Gerrit Cole had a great season last year. But the franchise had the worst year in three decades. Hence, to win a championship, the whole team needs to contribute well enough. And this year, the Yankees Nation will pray that the team does not have to go through so many injuries like last year.

If the side stays healthy they can go a long distance. That’s how good the Yankees look on paper. Hence, to be stronger on the defensive side of the field, the fans would hope Cole gets enough support from his fellow starters. Moreover, the NY side will hope to see Carlos Rodon and Marcus Stroman form a three-headed monster with Gerrit Cole this year.
