New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge had a historic resurgence in May after finishing with a .170 batting average in the month of April. Just when the captain’s form turned worrisome, the former AL-MVP proved why he is one of the most prolific hitters in major league baseball.

Aaron Judge won AL Player of the Month in May for video game esque numbers on the plate. He scored home runs like a child’s play and went nuclear with the offensive production. Given his overpowering performance, Judge was nominated for All-Star game and the results are out for the captain in the first phase itself.

Aaron Judge, the formidable slugger and captain for the New York Yankees, has secured an All-Star nod after receiving the highest number of votes from fans in the American League. Judge, who is having a sensational season with the bat, received close to 3.5 million votes in Phase 1, and hence, he got direct entry into this year’s All-Star game. Judges’ votes were higher than those of National League’s leading vote-getter, Bryce Hyper, who also got a direct qualification. Notably, Judge entered Thursday with a .309/.433/.712 slashline and league-leading 1.145 OPS. He is also leading the league in home runs (30) and RBIs (77). Hence, Aaron Judge will surely be the starting outfielder for the American League in the upcoming All-Star game at Arlington.

Meanwhile, Juan Soto has successfully advanced to Phase 2 voting as the second highest vote-getter in AL. He will be competing with Cleveland’s Steven Kwan, Baltimore’s Anthony Santander, and the currently injured Kyle Tucker from Houston Astros to bag the starting outfielder role. Notably, Soto is also having a great season despite getting traded in the off-season. He is hitting .300 with 19 home runs, 57 RBIs and .993 OPS. Additionally, Anthony Volpe, Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo and Jose Trevino are also nominated for the All-Star nod in their respective role. While Stanton and Rizzo are out for the next two months with injuries, Volpe can bag the spot if he beats Orioles’ Gunnar Henderson. It’s important to note that the All-Star game will be held on June 16 at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, with the Yankees getting significant representation.

Judge Chasing His Home Run Record Again

Aaron Judge is rightly referred to as the home run king for scripting an all-time high record in the 2022 season. Interestingly, this year, the Yankees captain is on the cusp of recreating something similar. Judge slammed his 30th-season home run against the New York Mets the other day in just his 80th-season game.

That sets him on a path to finish with 59 home runs which is just 3 short of his ultimate league high record. Aaron Judge also tied Bernie Williams to become the 7th most home run getter in the franchise’s stories history. In June itself, Jude has logged a successful season. And if the captain continues with the form, a postseason success for the New York Yankees is inevitable.
