The New York Yankees started this season really well. They were hot favorites to win the American League East division. When they entered June, the NY side was 40-19. Moreover, the offensive duo of Juan Soto and Aaron Judge was looking at their finest. These guys were leading the league in several offensive categories. Even now, the captain of the Bronx Bombers is at the top of the list of most home runs hit so far this season. However, things started changing in the month of June for the 27-time World Champions. They were really cruising before since the start of the 2024 season. But then, they began to lose the winning momentum.

Now, they have even lost their place at the top of the American League East division. The Baltimore Orioles have overtaken them. Moreover, the arch-rivals, the Boston Red Sox, are inching closer to the NY side. If they continue with their current slump, the Red Sox can overtake them in second place. However, the manager still believes that the NY side can go deep in the playoffs this season. Aaron Boone is not losing hope yet.

On Sunday, the Baltimore Orioles beat the Bronx Bombers 6-5. Clearly, the NY side has slumped right before the All-Star break. Entering June, the Yankees were 40-19. Fans believed this year, destiny wants to give the Bombers the AL East crown. However, things changed dramatically as the NY side had a 14-13 record in June. On the other hand, July was even worse for Aaron Boone’s side. The Pinstripes has been 4-8 so far. Can the 27-time World Champions get out of this slump before its too late? Boone believes they can. Recently, Newsday’s Erik Boland quoted the Yankees manager, saying, “It is all right there in front of us.”

After Sunday’s loss, Aaron Boone mentioned that despite the team has been through some rough stretches, they still have a great chance to write a great script. He added, “We have the pen and it’s up to us that we can write an amazing script.” Most importantly, Boone says the reason why he still feels so confident is because the team has put themselves in that certain position. Lately, the Orioles have leapfrogged Boone’s side to the top of the AL East. Moreover, Sunday’s game can be a pretty good wake-up call for the Yankees. They held a 5-3 lead at one point. But then, they just gave it away to the division toppers.

Bronx Bombers Are Still In A Better Position Than 2023

Currently, the Yankees are 58-40. Hence, their position is still quite solid, and they even hold the first Wild Card spot. They should believe that they can make the postseason this year. Last season, they missed out with an awful 82-80 record. But this year, the NY side has one of the most talented rosters playing as long as in October.

However, this team needs to get back to winning ways and start playing like the way they started in 2024 if they want to win their 28th World Series. They must avoid any more injury issues and find the right combination. Moreover, the manager and the fans in general still have faith in the Bombers.
