Can Aaron Judge Lead The New York Yankees To A World Series Title With His Record-Breaking Performance?

New York Yankees’ new captain, Aaron Judge, is set to lead the roster for the upcoming MLB season.

The 2022 season was all about Aaron Judge for the New York Yankees. After a good start to the season, the Yanks’ performance degraded, and it was only Aaron at the center stage chasing a historic feat. The slugger surpassed Roger Maris to become the player with the most homers in a single MLB season. However, this year, the 30-year-old will have added responsibility on his shoulder.

During the off-season, Aaron Judge forced the Yankees to toil hard as he threatened to leave the franchise. Later, the slugger, gave in and pasted his signature on the nine-year extension contract worth $360 million. Moreover, the Yanks decided to make Aaron the face of the organization by naming him the 16th captain. With an extraordinary previous season, the expectations are high. Can Judge live up to it?

Aaron Judge Looking To Lead The Yanks To A Championship Title

Aaron Judge has already made a name for himself in his five years in the major league. He burst onto the scene in 2017 with the Rookie of the Year award and led the league in home runs. He’s been an All-Star three times, and he’s already hit over 140 career home runs with 62 just in the last season. However, to team failed to win the World Series title. Hence, the new captain will look to cross the finish line this year.

The 2023 season is a pivotal one for Judge and the Yankees. But the road to glory is rocky and filled with challenges. Looking at the past history, no player has ever been able to replicate a remarkable year in the following season. And for Aaron Judge, the situation is no different. On top of that, the 2023 projections are quite low, comparatively.

With added “C” badge on the pinstriped, the pressure lid is on the captain to take the team home. Lastly, with the kind of talent Aaron possess, you cannot rule out another exceptional season. If the slugger manages to have even half as good as the last one, the Yankees have a shot at the championship.

An Atlanta Sports Radio host, Chris Dimino, recently spoke about the New York Yankees in a show. He started by appreciating the Yankees for good moves in defense this off-season. However, Chris questioned the pitching depth and said Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon cannot sustain for a long time and is likely to cause problems during the postseason.

Chris further addressed Aaron Judge’s situation and said that the slugger did have a unicorn-type season. However, the radio host does have his doubt if the slugger can replicate that in the upcoming season. Lastly, Chris concluded by saying New York Yankees are the kind of team you either hate or love. There is no grey area here. However, the host termed the Yankees good for the sport of baseball.
