Anthony Volpe Shining In Spring Training! Ready To Join Yankees’ Lineup

The New York Yankees’ top prospect, Anthony Volpe, is turning heads at this year’s spring training with an all-round performance.

Anthony Volpe, a first-round pick in the 2019 MLB draft, has left the Yankees in awe with his consistent performance at the plate. In last spring training game against the Boston Red Sox, he scored a powerful home run, along with a double from opposite parts of the field. Until now, Volpe is hitting at .320, and in 25 at-bats, he recorded 8 hits, 2 home runs, 2 RBIs, 4 walks, and 3 stolen bases.

The 21-year-old, with minimal minor league experience, is fighting a shortstop battle in the ongoing spring training. He faces fierce competition from the likes of Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswald Peraza. While his odds of making it on the major league roster looked bleak earlier, his recent performances will surely give him an edge over his competitors.

The New York Yankees are in the midst of a heated competition for the starting shortstop position, and one player who has been making a strong case for himself is Anthony Volpe. The 21-year-old prospect has been on fire in spring training, showing off his impressive hitting and fielding skills. Of course, Volpe is not the only player eyeing the starting shortstop position. The Yankees also have Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswald Peraza in the mix. Moreover, the management is rumored to have a strong liking for Peraza.

Hence, the chances of Anthony Volpe starting in the minor league are very high. But Yanks general manager Brian Cashman thinks otherwise. He stated that Volpe is doing everything he should in order to land the shortstop position. Furthermore, the skipper, Aaron Boone, was also highly impressed with Volpe’s show against the Red Sox. Boone added that the senior players in the bullpen look highly impressed with the 21-year-old and are keeping a watch on his potential. If Volpe continues to perform at the same, it would be very difficult for the Yanks to look past his numbers.

Meanwhile, Anthony Volpe is unfazed by all the outside noise. He feels he still needs to do a lot in order to land that starting shortstop job. Volpe says he has a lot of games lying ahead of him and wants to make the most of every single game and opportunity from here on. The 21-year-old further acknowledged the efforts of the coaching staff and thanked them for supporting him constantly.

The competition between Volpe, Peraza, and Isiah has been the talk of spring training, with many fans and analysts wondering who will come out on top. While Peraza and Isiah have the advantage of experience and a proven track record, Volpe has been making a strong case for himself with his outstanding play. Moreover, even if Volpe loses his place in the opening-day roster, he still has a strong chance of coming in in the latter half of the season.
