Injuries woes have not been kind to the New York Yankees this season. While many key players had to miss crucial game time due to respective setbacks, an awful lot of players got sidelined owing to season-ending injuries. It did not even spare the prospects who had come in just days ago.
A couple of weeks ago, Jasson Dominguez, the New York Yankees no.2 prospect, tore the UCL of his right elbow. After scripting records after records, Dominguez was shut down for the season as the tear required urgent surgery. Now, after Dominguez, another top prospect could be shut down with a major injury scare.
Everson Pereira Struggling With Hamstring Discomfort, Likely Headed To IL!
The New York Yankees’ fate is working against them completely. Just when the youth movement began to develop results, the injury bug hit them badly. In a span of a few weeks, the team lost players like Anthony Rizzo, Nestor Cortes, and Jason Dominguez to season-ending injuries. Now, it seems another top prospect is headed in the same direction. Outfield prospect Everson Pereira has not featured in the lineup since Sept. 14 against the Red Sox. As speculations gained momentum, skipper Aaron Boone issued a clarification. During a recent episode of Talkin Yanks Podcast, Boone said Pereira is struggling with a hamstring strain. However, it looks low grade for now as the medical staff is dealing with it as a day-to-day injury. He also refused to comment on the possibility of an IL stint.

“We do think he’s going to play again this season, but I don’t know if it’s two days from now, tomorrow, or five days from now,” added Aaron Boone. Having said that, the Yankees have 12 games left into the season, which partially eliminates any existing chances of Everson Pereira’s alleged return. Pereira has been average so far. In 21 games, he hit .143 with seven RBIs and .426 OPS. But, the outfield prospect showed positive glimpses on the field, particularly left field. Pereira is also being viewed as the Yankees’ potential future left-field solution. Regardless, it seems any remaining hopes of a return this year will diminish with each passing game. If so happens, Pereira will enter spring training under a lot of pressure to stay in contention for the 2024 roster.
Yankees Fans Unimpressed With Aaron Boone’s Latest Admission On Everson Pereira’s Injury
Aaron Boone is not much of a star among the Yankee fanbase. His strategies and bullpen decisions have often backfired, which led to a lot of resentment among the fans. Recently, Boone disclosed Everson Pereira’s hamstring injury, which could shut him down for the season. However, the skipper’s comments come days after Pereira began to miss matches.

Hence, the fans assume that the Yankees allegedly failed to pick up the injury early on. Just like it happened in Jasson Dominguez’s case. They let him play with an elbow discomfort, which worsened into a UCL tear. Having said that, it is still not confirmed if Everson Pereira actually played through an injury. The situation is still developing as we await an official confirmation from the franchise.
