Judge broke the previous American League record with 62 home runs and a Triple Crown bid. He is currently the frontrunner. DH Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros and two-way star Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels are the other finalists.

The defending AL MVP Shohei Ohtani poses Judge\’s strongest challenge for the award after the two-way standout for the Angels had another outstanding year on the pitching and at the plate. Nevertheless, he did it for a losing team, whereas Judge had a historic season and carried the Yankees to the AL East title.
