Aaron Judge Decided To Go With The Yankees Or Giants? Winter Meetings Will Play The Major Role

Aaron Judge and his free agency saga have been the center of the news for more than a month. And every day, some new updates are making this drama even more thrilling. The year is approaching its end. And the MLB teams are getting reckless in closedown a deal with the MLB\’s hottest commodity right now. Meanwhile, now there are reports suggesting that there might be some big news coming from the Winter meetings.

Winter Meeting May Bring Some Big Updates About Aaron Judge!

Off late, the free agency of Aaron Judge and other MLB players has been on the back burner because of the holiday season. However, when the winter meetings begin on Sunday, December 4, in San Diego, the business may start to pick up the following week. The gathering of team executives, agents, and occasionally even players at one location has frequently served as a prelude to significant trades and signings in previous offseasons. And it is expected to do so once more this time around.

The West Coast will be the location of the winter meetings. Since Judge and Jacob deGrom are at the top of their respective free-agent markets in New York, all eyes will be there in the interim. The Yankees and Mets have been pursuing Judge and deGrom, respectively. But there hasn\’t been any public sign of progress on this yet.

This past week, Judge visited his hometown Giants for two days, giving his free agency some momentum. But whether he will consult with other teams first before making a decision is still up in the air. The Dodgers are thought to be another bidder for Judge. And Yankees GM Brian Cashman recently stated that the organization has an offer for the star outfielder on the table.

Judge\’s new deal is anticipated to be worth more than $300 million. Before Opening Day, the Yankees made him a seven-year, $213.5 million contract offer. He declined it. Only one other player with a deal worth more than $300 million was signed by the Yankees. Cashman worked on a deal including Gerrit Cole during the 2019 winter meetings in San Diego.

While attempting to re-sign deGrom, the Mets find themselves in a similar situation. In order to become the highest-paid pitcher in MLB, the two-time Cy Young award winner. With an average yearly worth of $43.3 million last year, Max Scherzer and the Mets set a new benchmark. According to Mike Puma of The Post, the Mets think deGrom wants to remain in Queens as long as other teams aren\’t making him significantly better offers.

One of the Mets\’ greatest challenges against deGrom is thought to be the Rangers. A year after giving out hefty contracts to infielders Corey Seager and Marcus Semien, Texas wants to improve its starting rotation. However, the Rangers may also be interested in signing Carlos Rodon, a 29-year-old left-hander. He will be a solid backup option for the Mets if deGrom leaves for another team.
