The New York Yankees landed back home in the Bronx after a successful road trip. After a much-needed day off, the team was back on its feet to face an East rival, Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles have witnessed a meteoric rise this season. They rank second in the AL-East table with a record of 31-17, way better than the reigning East champions, the Yankees. Hence, the series was not going to be a cakewalk for the high-spirited Bombers.

Things started on a strange note for the Yankees as their ace starter, Gerrit Cole, was put under early pressure. Cole ended up leaking five runs which endangered the team’s winning odds. Hence, the manager, Aaron Boone, pulled him out in time. However, the damage was done already. At last, the team banked on his captain, Aaron Judge, to somehow turn things in their favor. The leader rose on the occasion and managed to save the pride of the team.

New York Yankees captain, Aaron Judge, has found his mojo back ever since his return from IL. He smoked seven home runs in seven outings, which earned him his season’s first AL Player of the Week. His batting average in the past week touched .500, and the slugger also recorded a league-high 1.042 OPS. Naturally, when the Bombers found themselves in hot waters, they laid faith in their captain for the rescue operation. Judge came into bat in the ninth inning and was called for two strikes already. However, the slugger calmed his nerves and slammed a splitter off Félix Bautista straight over the left field.

It was a game-tying home run, and the Yankees finally received a second life. His team in the dugout was in awe of their captain. Manager Aaron Boone called Judge the best player in the world. Moreover, Gerrit Cole added that when Aaron Judge steps on the plate, anything and any result seems plausible. Anthony Volpe, the rookie, said he predicted Judge’s shot. He had a feeling that the captain was going to have a special day, and whatever he did, he made it look easy. Overall, Aaron Judge’s ninth-inning homer helped the Yankees tie the game by 5-5, which they eventually ended up winning, a big thanks to the rookie Anthony Volpe.

Aaron Judge saved the Yankees from a humiliating loss after hitting the game-tying home run in the ninth inning. However, the job wasn’t finished. The game got pushed to the 10th inning, where Anthony Volpe arrived with his magic. With first and third base covered, Volpe just had to score a hit which allowed the man at third to reach home. The rookie did just that and sacrificed his out, which helped him gain his first-ever career walk-off.

The Yankees dugout stormed into the field and burst into celebrations. The whole team was in awe of Anthony Volpe, and Anthony Rizzo even carried him on his shoulders. Aaron Judge and Aaron Boone heaped praises on the rookie for showing immense resilience to take the team home. With that, the Bombers are 1-0 in the three-game series, which will resume on Wednesday.
