New York Yankees star slugger, Aaron Judge, commenced his 2023 season campaign with a lot of expectations and responsibilities. As a captain of the $7 billion franchise and the reigning AL-MVP, the slugger had to perform dual duties of leading the side on the field as well as in the offensive production. Such pressure is difficult to deal with in a highly competitive sports league such as MLB.

However, there’s nothing in this world the 6-foot-7 beast cannot handle. He aced all the roles assigned to him. The slugger led the Yankees to a record series win streak and also stayed at the top of the offense charts. However, it all came to a halt a few weeks ago when the captain suffered an unfortunate hip injury. He landed on 10-day IL, which endangered his red-hot form. While most players suffer from a slump after an injury risk, Aaron Judge is kind of built differently.

The New York Yankees faced a major injury scare in the last week of April when their captain and lead slugger, Aaron Judge, strained his hip. While the discomfort was mild, the medical team was in no mood to take a risk and placed the slugger on 10-day IL to allow him to recover fully. During his absence, the Yankees’ offense struggled. They had no one to take charge at the top and put early pressure on the opposition’s starter. However, the one concern that nagged the fans was the threat of Judge losing his form as a result of an injury. But they underestimated their captain.

Since the return, Aaron Judge has slammed seven home runs in the first seven outings, including two multi-homer games. Last week from May 15 to May 21, the slugger had five home runs and seven extra-base hits to his name in six game appearances. Also, his batting average stood at .500 with a 1.893 OPS. These stats earned Aaron Judge the AL Player of the Week award, which also happens to be his first award of the season. The Yankees slugger is showing glimpses of his 2022 alien form. His season stats stand at .299 with 13 home runs, 32 RBI, and a league-high 1.042 OPS. Well, the Bronx Bombers will hope the captain continues to maintain this form towards the very end of the tournament to ensure the team qualifies for the playoffs and maybe break the 13-year-long jinx of the World Series title.

Yankee Fan Tears Down Shohei Ohtani Over His 2023 Stats

Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees captain, outclassed the Angels’ all-round player, Shohei Ohtani, to win the American League MVP award in 2022. Ohtani seemed displeased with the decision as he thought he had the edge over the slugger due to his dual hitting and pitching abilities. However, Judge’s 2022 offensive numbers happened to be the best the sport has ever witnessed. Hence, the Yankees captain took the trophy home. Since then, both sides’ fans have stayed at loggerheads with each other to prove why one is better than the other.

One particular Yankee fan who goes by the name of Jonny’s Lasagna on Twitter shared Shohei Othani’s stats of the ongoing season and mocked him for his high ERA and low OPS. The user also urged the Angles fans to never ever compare Othani to the reigning MVP, Aaron Judge, who is way more supreme than the former.
