Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees captain, got placed on a 10-day IL two weeks ago when he suffered from a mild hip strain. While the injury seemed minor, the team handed Judge an IL stint as a precautionary measure. Apparently, the skipper, Aaron Boone, did not want the slugger to compromise on his health this early in the season.

Nonetheless, the IL stint ends this week, and Aaron Judge looks poised to get back to the lineup on Tuesday. However, a final call will be made only on Tuesday after the final assessments take place. However, when the captain eventually marks his return, the Yankees will have to cut someone off from the roster. Hence, the slugger’s return would result in some collateral damage. But the prime question is, who will face the axe?

Aaron Hicks’ Place In The Yankees Lineup Under Serious Threat As Aaron Judge Prepares For A Comeback This Week

New York Yankees outfielder, Aaron Hicks, has struggled on the plate as well as on the field ever since his arrival in the Bronx. In the past eight years with the team, Hicks has hit .231 with 80 homers and 275 RBIs. Moreover, the numbers have significantly dropped in the past two seasons. Even this season, the outfielder is averaging .143 with eight hits and two RBIs. Hence, the fans have lost their patience and showered the outfielder with boos every time he stepped on the plate. While the switch hitter has maintained that he is working hard to turn things around, the supporters are not impressed and want him to go now.

Meanwhile, as Yankees captain Aaron Judge gears up for a return, the team has to make some difficult decisions to make way for the captain. Someone from the roster will have to make the ultimate sacrifice for the captain. Moreover, eyeing Aaron Hicks’ struggle, he becomes the prime candidate for the axing. For what it’s worth, releasing Hicks is just writing on the wall. He cannot continue his stay in New York with these cheap numbers. The outfielder will have to face the axe someday. GM Brian Cashman and crew have a perfect opportunity to correct their mistake, and hence they should show the exit doors to Hicks to make way for Judge.

Aaron Hicks Impressed With His First Significant Hit Of The 2023 Season

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks’ place in the team will stay under the scanner this week. However, the outfielder is not bothered by the things he cannot control and remains focused on his preparation. Recently, Hicks scored his first extra-base hit of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays. The switch hitter went 1-for-4 with an RBI double to add a valuable run to the team’s tally.

Reviewing the performance, Aaron Hicks said he is feeling a lot better and confident on the plate now. Over the past week, he has made better contact with the ball, and now his focus would be on getting the desired results. Regardless, it’s highly unlikely that one hit is going to make a difference for the outfielder, whose fate hangs in the balance till Tuesday.
