The New York Yankees must be happy to see Anthony Volpe on a hot streak. Moreover, the team started the season very well. Clearly, they are on a mission to redeem themselves after a terrible season last year. The NY side could not even make the postseason for the first time since 2016. They finished with an awful 82-80 record. It was the worst season for them in the last 30 years. Then, the Bronx Bombers suffered a lot of injuries. When Aaron Judge sustained a severe toe injury in 2023, from that moment on, the season was over. They did not have another superstar slugger who could maintain the strength in their offense.

But this year has been different. The Yankees added Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo to their roster, bolstering their offense. Moreover, it seems like the players who were there last season with the Bombers, even they are eager to showcase their best performance in 2024. For instance, Anthony Volpe impressed a lot of fans in his rookie season but was not impressive offensively. He won a Gold Glove Award and had a 20-20 season. But Volpe had too many strikeouts last year. Clearly, the young Yankee has worked on that and is doing great in 2024. Lately, Volpe surpassed Derek Jeter’s 2012 record of 19-game hitting streak.

Last year, Anthony Volpe impressed fans after hitting 20 home runs and earning 20 steals. He was the first Yankee rookie to do so. Coming to 2024, the NY side made him the new shortstop. But the New York native has been continuing to impress the home fans in his sophomore season with his latest hitting dominance. Last year, Volpe proved that he loves hitting home runs. However, he had too many strikeouts to deal with in his rookie season. But the 23-year-old shortstop has been on a roll in the 2024 regular season. He has managed to be on a 20-game hitting streak lately.

In 2012, former Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter had a 19-game hitting streak. That same year, Robinson Cano had a 20-game hitting streak, which had been the longest for a Yankees player since 2012. Now, Volpe joins Cano to prove his hitting dominance this year. There is anticipation among the Yankees Faithful that Volpe can go as far as the legend Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak in 1941. However, it is still a bit too far. But Volpe can certainly do it if he is able to keep up the momentum.
