The New York Yankees have been enjoying a great start to the 2024 season. They have not had a start like this for many years. Even without their ace pitcher Gerrit Cole, the bullpen has done an extremely good job to keep their opponents quiet. However, they have lost a couple of series so far, one against the Toronto Blue Jays and the last one against the Baltimore Orioles. Moreover, the one against the O’s was very costly because they lost their grip on the top spot of the American League East.

Adding to that, the Yankees had a tied series against the Oakland Athletics. Other than those three series, Aaron Boone’s side has been very hard to beat. Most importantly, the team is firing from all cylinders. Clearly, their offense is one of the strongest in the league. Lately, the Yankees offense has been demolishing the Houston Astros. More specifically, the future Hall Of Famer, Justin Verlander, had a terrible start to the season owing to the brutality of the Yankees offense.

The Houston Astros ace pitcher did not have a start to the 2024 regular season as he had hoped for. On Tuesday, the NY side beat the Astros 10-3. Seven of those ten runs came against the pitches of Justin Verlander. Three guys hit home runs off the future Hall of Famer. Anthony Volpe, Alex Verdugo, and Giancarlo Stanton came out with homers off Verlander’s pitches. For any Yankees fans, it was very satisfying to see because Verlander had great success against the Bronx Bombers in the last few seasons. But after the game on Tuesday, the Yankees send Verlander to deep self-doubt. In the post-game interview, Justin Verlander told the media that he was not very good and that the Yankees had a very good approach. Moreover, the Astros ace said that in the last few games, especially with the walks, he noticed that he was a “Little off.”

Adding to that, Verlander credited the NY side, saying they showed him that he has a lot of work to do. Moreover, Verlander believes, “I need to be more deceptive.” Nevertheless, the future Hall of Famer has no lack of confidence as he believes that he will return to form soon. He cited the mechanical adjustments he made after the mediocre performances back in 2009 in Detroit and then after the first half of the 2017 campaign. Clearly, Verlander has a lot of experience to learn from whenever he goes through a rough patch. He said that he has been “Here” countless times in his career. Hence, it is only a matter of time before the legend to return to form.

Aaron Boone Believes The Key Is To “Stay Humble”

After taking Justin Verlander and the other Astros pitchers to the cleaners, clearly, the whole team was very happy. But Aaron Boone said he is focusing on the next game from here and trying to stay humble. However, it was evident during the press conference after Tuesday’s game that the Yankees manager felt a lot of relief seeing the offense perform like that.

But Boone said that it won’t be possible to repeat it again and again against a pitcher of Verlander’s caliber. However, Aaron Boone said that he has faith in his team’s offense that they can do it in more games in the future. On Wednesday, the Yankees won 9-4 to clinch the series win.
