Carlos Rodon disappointed the New York Yankees and their fans last season. In the previous offseason, the NY side bought the pitcher for a pretty good deal. But the hurler failed to deliver. Moreover, the failure of the hurler in his first year with the franchise made the Bronx Bombers a bit apprehensive. Due to Rodon’s failure, the front office is not sure about landing a pitcher for a price that might be just too high. For instance, Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner did not want to surpass the $300 million mark for an offer to Yoshinobu Yamamoto. On the other hand, the Los Angeles Dodgers landed the Japanese ace for $325 million over two more years than what the Yankees offered him.

If the Dodgers stealing the Japanese ace pitcher away was not that heartbreaking, then the Baltimore Orioles landed Corbin Burnes, bolstering their bullpen even more. Anyway, the Orioles have been looking like the strongest team in the American League East since last year. Moreover, the Yankees are apprehensive about signing Blake Snell for a nine-year deal worth $270 million. These fears and bad feelings all come from the signing of Carlos Rodon’s awful performance in 2023. But Rodon wants to make things right in his second year with the Bronx Bombers.

Recently, in an interview, as per Greg Joyce of the New York Post, Carlos Rodon finally broke his silence about his awful debut with the Yankees. Last offseason, the NY side bought him for a six-year deal worth $162 million. But then, he pitched in only 14 games, posted a 6.85 ERA, and, in 64.1 innings, had 64 strikeouts. That’s how bad it was. But Rodon mentioned he feels he has a lot of stuff to prove. Moreover, Rodon wants to spend more time on the field than he did last year. He signed with the Bombers in December 2022.

But after the 2023 season, he got to spend the first full offseason with the NY side. Now, he is preparing to improve and come back stronger in the upcoming season. Rodon said when they invest a lot of money in him, that means they invest time as well as contact with you too. So, Rodon believes they have a good plan and trying to execute it the best way possible. Moreover, he’s pretty early in the weight room and has been throwing pretty early. He said it was his process to stay in shape.

Carlos Rodon had been a top pitcher in the league for a while. That’s why the Yankees wanted to sign him in the first place. But Rodon went on to have a miserable season last year. The main cause of the hurler’s problem was injuries. He suffered a forearm muscle strain in last March.

Then, during rehab, Rodon had to deal with back issues. Later, he was able to get on the mound in July. But he could not get back his form like in the past seasons. However, he has been training hard this offseason. Rodon got rid of his mustache and spent some time with his three kids. He said chasing after his kids helped him get into shape.
