The Golden State Warriors are struggling this year. They did not have a great start to the 2023-24 season. After 22 games, they have already lost in 12 contests. It is not the kind of start they were hoping for. Moreover, Klay Thompson has played 21 games this season. He averaged 15.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.1 apg. On top of that, Thompson shot 35.4% three-pointers and 40.4% from the field. However, Klay has played over 737 regular season games in his career. Throughout his career, Thompson averaged 45.4% from the field shooting and 41.4% shooting three-pointers.
Albeit he’s struggling, Thompson is still one of the star and best players for the Warriors. Hence, his availability for the next game will be an interesting topic of discussion. In the last game, the Warriors lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 138-136. The Warriors lost as the game went to overtime. Astonishingly enough, they had 28 turnovers. In the next game, the Warriors will face the Phoenix Suns. But the GSW might miss Klay Thompson. He did not come to practice on Sunday as he was sick.
Klay Thompson Might Miss The Game Against The Suns
As per The San Francisco Chronicle’s Ron Kroichick, due to an illness, the four-time champion missed practice. Can Thompson get back to practice on Monday, ahead of their clash against the Suns in Arizona on Tuesday? At present, it looks pretty doubtful. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant’s team might be a tough challenge for the GS Warriors. Currently, the San Francisco-based are the 11th seed in the Western Conference. They have won five and lost six games out of the 11 contests away from the Chase Center in their hometown. Clearly, they need improvement in their performance on the road.

But if the Warriors want to do well on the road, they’ll need Klay Thompson at his best form. However, former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas mentioned on his podcast Gils Arena Show that Thompson never improved in his time with the Golden State Warriors. This comment surely doesn’t sit well with the San Francisco fans. However, Father Time has come for Klay Thompson, and that doesn’t let him be the player he once was back in his prime.
Warriors Need Their Stars To Deliver
The San Francisco-based team has established a modern-day dynasty. Moreover, these three stars have been a constant in the last nine years. They helped the franchise win four titles in the last nine years. Hence, the Warriors would like to win their 5th title in 2024 to make it five in ten. But they need their stars to deliver. Moreover, other than Steph Curry, their star players like Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have not really delivered so far.
However, Steph Curry alone has been carrying the team so far in the current regular season. Albeit, the two-time MVP has been the leader of the side all these years, he alone can’t win title after title. It is a team game, after all. Moreover, Klay Thompson has won four championships with the Warriors, and he is a fan favorite too.
