Team Red Bull had to wait for a long time to get back to where they are now. They used to dominate the grid during the period of Sebastian Vettel when he won four consecutive Driver’s World Championships. However, after four years, the Austrian team lost its hegemony on the grid. But they lost the grip on the title to a team that would go on to win eight consecutive constructor titles. The Red Bull boss Christian Horner compared that period with hell. Mercedes enjoyed their hegemony for eight years dominating the turbo-hybrid era. But things began to change in 2021.
Mercedes won the constructor title that year, too, with the combination of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. But the new king of the jungle, Max Verstappen, won the Driver’s World Championship, narrowly beating Lewis Hamilton in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. After a long time, Christian Horner was able to call a driver of his team “World Champion.” But that was just the beginning. Since last year, it has been a total Red Bull domination once again. Moreover, as per Planetsport, in a recent interview, Christian Horner mentioned his team is not getting complacent.
Red Bull Has No Place For Complacency
Adding to that, Red Bull Boss mentioned his team is taking one race and one session at a time. That’s the way to focus on championships, feels Horner. Moreover, the Red Bull boss believes nobody in his team is allowing their minds to drift as it is a very long championship. On top of that, the Milton Keynes team must work harder because 2026 is not far away. Hence, the Red Bull team is focusing even harder on their new Powertrains. Later, Horner mentioned as a hunter, he needs everybody around him to keep their focus on the target ahead of them.
But when it goes the other way round, it is a different pressure and challenge. Moreover, Christian Horner says there are numerous ways to approach certain issues, like chasing different staff and also their sponsors. Additionally, Horner mentioned the importance of continuity. The Red Bull boss believes reaching the top is one thing but staying there is a whole other struggle. However, he has faith in his team and is proud of the continuity that they have enjoyed. It is essential for their business.
The Austrian Team Can Afford To Shift Their Focus To Next Year’s Car
Max Verstappen went on to win a record 15 Grand Prix last year. The Milton Keynes team managed to win a total of 17 races, winning the constructor title convincingly. Later this season, the Austrian team has been ridiculously good so far. They have won all the races up till the summer break. Max Verstappen has won 10 races again already.
Another Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez, has won a couple of Grands Prix so far like he did last year. Only ten more Grands Prix to go, and it is safe for the Milton Keynes team to shift focus on the next year’s car. After all, they are way ahead in both Constructor and Driver’s world championships. But they can still push the RB19 car to its limit to remain unbeaten this year.
