Manchester United Owners The Glazer Family Reportedly Interested In Buying One Of The Two New IPL Teams

The Glazer Family, who owns one of the most famous football clubs in the world, Manchester United, have shown their interest in buying one of the two new IPL teams. They even bought Invitation to Tender (ITT_ released by BCCI. IPL is certainly one of the most decorated cricket leagues all around the world. Its popularity has become so high now it has caught the attention of global giants like The Glazer Family.

A report by TOI confirmed that Avran Glazer and Joel Glazer have picked up the ITT. Another report also suggests that they\’re one of the reasons why BCCI extended the time limit from October 5 to October 10. So, it seems like the owners of Manchester United are actually serious about buying a new IPL team.

BCCI allowed foreign companies to enter the bid as well. However, if they manage to win the bid, they will have to set up a company in India. Therefore, if The Glazer Family wins the bid and owns an IPL team. They will have to open their company in India.

As of now, it is still not clear whether the owners of Manchester United will come to the bidding tables or not. But it is certain that they have shown a keen interest in owning a franchise. Along with The Glazer Family, Torrent Pharma, Adani Group, Aurobindo Pharma, RP-Sanjiv Goenka, Jindal Steel, Hindustan Times Media, Ronnie Screwvala, and three private equities have also picked up the ITT.

The developments told TOI that a lot of companies picked the tender only for a study purpose. They gather information that tends to be very useful. If one buys this bid document, they can get an idea of what BCCI is planning next. Usually, it is related to the expansion of its league. So, it might be possible that the Glazer Family buys the ITT as they might be planning to own the media rights landscape.

Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Lucknow, Dharamshala, and Indore will be present for the buyers to bid and develop a franchise. Ahmedabad must be the top priority among the mind of the investors because of India\’s largest cricket stadium. However, it still hasn\’t clear which two cities will join IPL 2022 as new franchises.

BCCI already revealed that they would announce the name of these two IPL teams on October 25 that will later take part in IPL 2022. Now, everyone is excited to know who will manage to buy a new franchise and which franchise they will buy.
