Formula One is all about beating each other on the tracks. Overtaking, getting inside, and not letting through is all it takes to win the race. However, some of the drivers have added another term in Formula One, “colliding” and “crashing”. Some of them get so passionate while racing that colliding with their rivals becomes a regular move for them. Looking at the 2021 F1 famous crashes, one can say that Max Verstappen is one of those drivers.

And the one with whom he never fails to collide is none other than Lewis Hamilton. In this era, the pair is the most popular rival of the sport, who does not pass a season grabbing attention. Let’s see what Max Verstappen says about why he always ends up contacting Lewis Hamilton while racing.

In the 2021 Formula One season, Max Verstappen had three crashes with the seven-time world champion. And, this year, after going smoothly for 20 races, Verstappen finally could not resist colliding with his old enemy. In the Brazilian Grand Prix, the Red Bull star went inside the Mercedes car in the second turning at the Senna corner.

It was an intentional collision. Also, the Stewards found Max as guilty of the crash, which slapped him with a 5 s penalty. Just after the race, Lewis Hamilton said, “You know, it’s just Verstappen’s thing.” He hinted that the second-time world champion always targets him because he has seven titles.

“I Did not Intentionally Crash With Lewis hamilton In Interlagos” Max Verstappen Defends Himself

Meanwhile, recently in an interview, Max Verstappen himself came out to explain the matter. No one understands why it always has to happen, why every time Max/Lewis takes place, and it seems like even Verstappen himself does not understand it. Motorsport.com asked the Dutchman about his story with the Briton. Max said, “Honestly, I don’t understand. It is a different story with Lewis.”

The 2022 F1 world champion was very careful in whatever he was speaking in the interview. He said, “With everyone this year has been really hard with the aggressive battles. But we [Max and Lewis] never came together.” Max Verstappen admitted that this year the pair did not have a lot of battles. Yet, in Brazil, they had a crash. But “It was not my intention even though I got the blame for it. It is not fair.” As the Stewards punished Verstappen for getting inside Hamilton’s car in Interlagos, several F1 pundits came out to suspect that Max behaves differently when he finds Lewis in front of him.

However, Max Verstappen defends himself with those claims. He denies the fact that he intentionally crashes with Hamilton or behaves any differently with him. The Red Bull ace stated, “I don’t feel like I am doing anything different to Hamilton or to any other drivers in racing.” He even gives an example in reference to the statement. Like why do people talk about Hamilton?

Look at the Brazil Sprint race, where Max was targeting George Russell. Both were fighting each other. But unfortunately, it did not work in the Grand Prix.” explained Max Verstappen. He even suggested that he is very careful when he speaks because anything can become a critic in England.
