Without a doubt, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are the most dominant NBA stars to don the purple and gold jersey over the past two decades. When you have achieved a certain level of icon status, you are entitled to a bit of special treatment. And that is exactly what LeBron James is expecting from the LA Lakers.
LeBron James Wants Kobe-Like Treatment From The Lakers!
This season, it seems as though LeBron James is being overtaken by Father Time. Twenty years have passed since LeBron\’s debut at the highest level of basketball. He\’s still one of the league\’s top performers at the age of 37. In 2020, LeBron claimed a title with the Los Angeles Lakers, and he still desires to fill his trophy cabinets with more trophies.
Although he had an injury and missed a few games for the Lakers to start the season, it has been difficult for him. Even at his senior age, LeBron is still a very good player. And the Lakers seem willing to retain him on the team for as long as they can.
LeBron allegedly wants the Lakers to fulfill certain requirements in order to keep him on the roster. Thus, doing so might come at a significant expense. Given that Purple and Gold are currently in a difficult situation, this is a significant question that they must address.
The Lakers forward recently talked with a representative of the Western Conference. According to the NBA insider, the Lakers may feel a little resentful about having extended LeBron\’s contract by another two years due to his small drop in availability and explosiveness off the catch. LeBron wants the Lakers to pay him as they did Kobe Bryant. And then see what they can do to form a solid team; this is how he wants to be handled. Kobe adopted this strategy and kept collecting money until his eventual retirement, even during his final seasons in the league.
LeBron has skipped four matches this season so far, two of which have been victories for Los Angeles, including their past three games, in which he has been absent. He has been giving his club 24.9 points and 8.8 rebounds. And 6.9 assists a game while shooting 45.7% from the field, though, when he was fit.
The Lakers are making arrangements to keep LeBron around longer and increase their chances of winning a title when the King performs well. Recently, Los Angeles has been connected to moves for Ben Simmons and Kevin Durant. But such moves appear to be long shots. According to some, the Lakers\’ upcoming offseason will be essential. They need to build another championship squad before LeBron starts to slow down.
