The New York Yankees failed to sweep the series against Kansas City, as the Royals clinched an 8-6 victory over the Bombers. The Yankees added one more loss, taking their AL East record to 69-34. While the Yankees keep building on their season-leading performance, they are missing out on some key players, sidelined from their roster for a while now.
As the MLB heads into the final two months of the season, the Bombers will need all the key players to make a strong case for their first World Series since 2009. Luckily for the fans, three crucial players are on course to make it back to the Yankees lineup soon. So, let\’s take a look at several players who are expected to return to the squad during the coming weeks.
Giancarlo Stanton
The Yankees have missed their star outfielder in the right field. Stanton has been out of action for over a week after suffering from Achilles Tendonitis. Due to the threats of the injury worsening, the Bombers have been extra cautious during Giancarlo\’s recovery. However, recent reports have suggested that the five-time All-Star is set to resume ball activities in an attempt to get back to the squad soon. The two-time Silver Slugger will resume his early basketball activities this week.
Luis Severino
The Yankee\’s pitcher has been sidelined due to a strained muscle since mid-July. The two-time All-Star has been recovering and is set to start the throwing program possible today. He has played 16 games this season with a record of 5-3 and an ERA of 3.45. The 28-year-old has also achieved 95 strikeouts in 86 innings pitched.
Zack Britton
The Bombers pitcher has been away from baseball for the whole 2022 season. The star reliever has been unavailable since September 2021 after having Tommy John Surgery. Further, a complication in his recovery led to a delay in his return. However, it is believed that the two-time All-Star is finally set to return for the Yankees this season. Last year, Britton went 35-26 with an ERA of 3.12. The 34-year-old made 531 strikeouts and 154 saves.
Boone Predicts Crazy 48 Hours Before Tuesday\’s Trade Deadline:
Meanwhile, amid the transfer deadline, Yankees Manager Aaron Boone reckoned that there could be some crazy action coming up during the final 48 hours before the trade deadline closes on Tuesday. Boone stated that the Yankees had a complete team and were one of the best, if not the best. Talking after an 8-6 loss against the Royals, Aaron claimed the Bombers would continue to perform at their best no matter what happened during the next 48 hours.
Boone also admitted that there is always scope to become incrementally better. However, the Pinstripers\’ boss felt they had a complete team and relied on their starters, relievers, defense, baserunning, and power. Boone concluded, \”We feel like those have all been overall a strength for us. If we end up strengthening those a little bit more. great. If not, we got a job to do.\”
