Yankees Urged To Consider Reuniting With Former Fan Favorite To Facilitate Juan Soto’s Blockbuster Trade

The New York Yankees are no strangers to blockbuster trades and big-name acquisitions. Moreover, their recent involvement in trade rumors involving San Diego Padres superstar Juan Soto has ignited excitement and speculation. Soto, a generational star, could solve the Yanks 50% of the existing problems.

However, a superstar like Juan Soto won’t come cheap to the New York Yankees. As far as the Padres are concerned, they are in a sort of rebuilding phase and would be open to selling. Meanwhile, a Yankee insider recently proposed a blockbuster trade that would see the Yanks reunite with a former infielder to facilitate Soto’s acquisition.

The New York Yankees have emerged as the favorite landing spot for San Diego Padres star Juan Soto. The 24-year-old will be eligible for arbitration in 2024, and the Padres have apparently no plans of an extension for now. This allows the Yanks to pitch a trade offer to San Diego. Meanwhile, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic believes that the key to landing Soto for the Bombers would be to reunite with former fan favorite Matt Carpenter. Matt witnessed a dramatic surge in the latter half of the 2022 season, wherein he posted .305 with 15 homers and 37 RBIs across 47 games. However, a foot injury ended his season in September itself, which hurt the Bombers championship campaign.

However, Matt Carpenter has been a bust with the Padres. In 76 games this year, he clocked .176 with five homers and 31 RBIs. His current estimated salary is $5.5 million, which the Yankees can absorb to land Juan Soto. Reuniting with Carpenter could be a huge risk from the New York Yankees’ point of view. However, to land a generational star like Juan Soto, something will have to give. Having said that, the notion of reuniting with Matt Carpenter to facilitate a potential Juan Soto blockbuster trade adds an intriguing layer to the ongoing discussions surrounding the Yanks and their pursuit of top-tier talent. It would be interesting to see how the situation unfolds and what Brian Cashman’s approach would be in these tough circumstances.

Cubs To Become Roadblock In Yanks Cody Bellinger Pursuit!

The New York Yankees will look to accomplish the trade deadline’s unfinished business during upcoming free agency. The unfinished business is the acquisition of Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger. Cody’s union with the Yanks almost seemed a done deal until the Cub switched stance at the last minute. As their playoff odds started to look more realistic, the Cubs pulled Bellinger off the market.

Nevertheless, Cody Bellinger is set to enter free agency next year. That will allow the Yankees to go all in without restrictions. However, if rumors are to be believed, the Cubs are unlikely to lay down as they believe Cody is their key to success. They want to build a championship-caliber team, and the outfielder is viewed as the major piece. Thus, Chicago-based teams are likely to pull strings to convince Bellinger to stay.
