Unclear Timeline For Jasson Dominguez Despite Yankees Revealed The Injury Diagnosis
Lately, there have been a lot of injuries in the Yankees camp. On Tuesday, Aaron Judge got drilled in his hand in the game against the Baltimore Orioles. Previously, on Sunday, Anthony Rizzo fell hard on his right hand after a collision. Later, the Yankees placed their first baseman on the 10-day Injured List. In Game 2 against the Orioles, Aaron Judge did not play, perhaps as a precaution. On the other hand, on Wednesday, Aaron Boone announced that their top prospect suffered a left oblique strain. However, the manager did not give a timetable when the fans can expect the promising slugger to be back in action. Hence, he is out indefinitely. Depending on the severity, a typical oblique strain can keep a player out for 6-8 weeks to recover.
However, the Yankees manager had mentioned that Jasson Dominguez suffered a “Moderate oblique strain.” Perhaps that means, he might be out for another month or even more than that, as per Pat Ragazzo of Sports Illustrated. Prior to his injury, Dominguez was in good knick in the minor league. He slashed .356/.404/.609 with six homers, 13 RBIs and a 1.013 OPS over 23 games in the different levels of the minor league since he returned after recovering from Tommy John surgery. But in the nine games that he played at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Jasson Dominguez slashed .389/.405/.639 with a couple of home runs and a 1.044 OPS.
The Bronx Bombers Need Their Outfielders To Stay Healthy
Previously, Jasson Dominguez was an option to replace any of the starting outfielders if they got injured. But the main backup outfielder of the Yankees is Trent Grisham. However, owing to an oblique strain, Dominguez is no longer an option to be a backup for Judge, Soto or Verdugo. Lately, the NY side avoided a couple of injury scares to the Judge-Soto duo.
It could have been worse. But the duo seems to be healthy to keep on playing. On the other hand, the Yankees could use Spencer Jones, the top prospect outfielder. However, he is not doing well at Double-A at the moment. He is only slashing .242/.328/.384 over 53 games with 32 RBIs, six home runs and a .712 OPS.
