The New York Yankees bounced back like a championship caliber team in 2024 season after missing out on postseason last year. They swept Houston Astros in opening series and went onto register a historic winning streak. The Bronx Bombers climbed up the ladder in AL-East in too little time.

And with the nuclear start, the New York Yankees were poised to make a deep postseason run. However, the mid season grind has got the better of the Yankee roster. Entering June, the team witnessed a steep decline and amid a losing streak, the fans have begun to second guess the championship aspirations.

The New York Yankees’ mid-season regression in the current MLB season has fans and analysts worried, particularly given the team’s recent history of faltering during critical stretches. After being the best team in MLB in May, the team fell hard to log four straight series losses in June. It all began with a tough loss at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox before the Baltimore Orioles showed the Bombers their place at home. To add salt to open wounds, the Atlanta Braves and Mets trashed Yanks offer the much-needed reality check. Interestingly, given the past two season stats, it seems history is repeating itself for the franchise this year as well.

As per eagle eye fans, NYY went down after a great start in the 2022 and 2023 seasons as well. In 2022, the Yankees went 61-23 in the first half and finished with a 38-40 record in the second half. In 2023, as well, the team had a 36-25 record until Aaron Judge went down with toe injury and they plummeted to 45-55 and were denied an opportunity to advance to the playoffs. Of course, the 2024 season has been much different and better compared to the previous two years. This year, Judge is in his best form, with Juan Soto leading the charge in offensive production. Additionally, Gerrit Cole has yet to unveil his magic in the rotation after missing two months due to an elbow injury. Hence, overall, while the mid-season regression is a concerning sign for the fans and analysts, the Bronx Bombers are focused on a better future.

Jon Heyman Says The Yanks Stink As A Two-Man Team

In a harsh yet candid take, MLB insider Jon Heyman said that the New York Yankees stink at the moment after dropping four series in a row. They are basically a two-man team running on the backs of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. Heyman argued that the Mets series loss was a clear reflection of the lineup’s over dependence on Judge-Soto duo.

“It is a two-man team right now, and that is not even their biggest issue,” Jon Heyman said. The insider added that the Yankees’ core issue is the lack of performance for the rest of the lineup. The franchise cannot dream of a long postseason run on two people alone. Hence, before things get out of control, Heyman urged Yanks to step up.
