The New York Yankees have been going through a long and frustrating phase in the current season. It is very opposite to the great start they were enjoying at the beginning of the ongoing regular season. They seemed unstoppable at one point, as they were the first team to clinch 50-game wins this season. Moreover, their starting pitchers were apparently doing a decent job. In fact, the rookie Luis Gil was at one point a top contender to win the AL Cy Young Award this year. Then, the offense with the combination of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto seemed pretty solid.

But since June 13, there has been a steady decline in the performance of Aaron Boone’s side. The Yankees went 6-16 in the next 22 games. Moreover, they started July with a 4-8 record. Then, it was time for the Midsummer Classic. It seemed like a good break to come back fresh and strong. However, since the All-Star break, the Bronx Bombers went 2-4. Lately, they have lost the Subway Series. The city rivals, the New York Mets, won the series finale 12-3 on Wednesday. This loss is tough to swallow for the 27-time World Champions.

On Wednesday, the NY Mets outplayed their city rivals in every facet of the game. They routed the Yankees with an emphatic 12-3 win. As a result, the Bronx Bombers have dropped 22 out of 32, and it seems like a skid that won’t stop. Later, the Yankees manager brought frustration in his appearance to the post-game podium. He said that no one has higher expectations than the guys in the “Fricking room.” Moreover, Boone said, “Everyone is pissed off.” He added that they got to play better, as this phase of a slump has been going on for a long time now. Clearly, it is very frustrating for any team to go through such a period.

But the skipper said that he believes the team is competing to the best of their abilities. Adding to that, the Yankees manager noted that the important thing to do is to “Always walk with the right amount of willingness and edge to compete.” He believes nobody else is going to pull them out of this phase but themselves. For the fans, Boone said that there is nothing he can say other than that the team has to do it. Moreover, he said that he still feels confident about the team’s chances and believes they can get themselves out of this mess.

The Yankees Manager Said, “We’ve Played Sh***y Of Late”

Mark W. Sanchez from the New York Post quoted Aaron Boone saying, “We are a good team that has played sh***y of late.” He also said that he won’t define the phrases he often uses like “Stretch” or “Slump.” Clearly, Boone’s voice rose when he said that they have to play a whole lot better. The manager added that there is a lot of pride in the franchise, but everyone’s pissed off in the “Fricking room.” He pointed at other teams, who were struggling around them, too.

But Boone’s message was that they have to play a whole lot better “The rest of the way.” Clearly, the 12-3 loss to the city rivals has been like a wake-up call for the 27-time World Champions. Now, they are down 60-44. In the next two series, the Yankees will play the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Phillies, both on the road.
