Jazz Chisholm Jr, the New York Yankees trade prize, was on a rampage since his transition from Miami to the Bronx. He slammed two successive multi-homer games in the first series as a Yankee and went on to thrive in the defense as a regular third baseman. However, Chisholm’s twisted fate halted his dream run.

In the midst of an offensive surge, Jazz Chisholm Jr sustained an injury on his left elbow while hustling on base paths to score a run earlier this week. MRI scans revealed a UCL injury. However, Chisholm intends to defy the diagnosis and is eyeing an optimistic and risky return to the earliest as possible.

The New York Yankees placed Jazz Chisholm Jr on a 10-day IL list with a left elbow sprain on Thursday this week. The roster move comes after the third baseman injured his left elbow while sliding home against the Chicago White Sox earlier this week. While the initial X-ray scans were negative, Chisholm’s soreness promoted Yanks to schedule an MRI scan. The MRI scans revealed a UCL injury, thus raising the threat of a season-ending surgery. However, coming into the series opener against the Tigers, Jazz affirmed an optimistic return timeline. He disclosed that he hasn’t noticed any pain since the day of the incident, and it’s only getting better as he played catch on Friday.

Jazz Chisholm Jr added that he is confident he can avoid surgery at least until the off-season. “It’s 100 percent realistic in my mind that at the end of the 10 days I’ll be back,” Chisholm said. The slugger even wanted to rush his rehab. But the Yankees training staff advised against it. After being shut down for a couple of days, Chisholm resumed playing catch and is likely to take a swing next week. While the injury has occurred in Jazz’s non-throwing arm, he should be able to take a swing without any discomfort to be able to return after the 10-day timeline. However, Jazz Chisholm looked extremely confident in avoiding the worst-case scenario. He is itching to resume baseball activities, and momentarily, the New York Yankees are eyeing a mid-September, precisely four weeks return timeline for Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Aaron Boone Encouraged But Cautious On Chisholm’s Rehab

While Jazz Chisholm Jr informally announced his return after the 10-day timeline, New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone was cautious yet encouraged by Jazz’s recovery. He confirmed that expert doctors advised Jazz to avoid surgery as he can recover with proper rehabilitation program. Also, the slugger is unlikely to receive any PRP injections to boost recovery process.

Aaron Boone revealed that Jazz Chisholm Jr is in good spirits and has good body strength. The priority for Yankees now is to get rid of the soreness before Jazz can resume baseball activities and then go on to ramp up slowly and steadily. “We’re in the getting-soreness-out [stage], but I think the early signs are encouraging,” Boone said in a press conference.
