Trevor Larnach, Dylan Carlson

The New York Yankees are currently scratching their heads to determine the causes of the lost 2023 season. Moreover, finding out the solutions and practically executing them would even be a bigger challenge for the leadership group of the franchise. Having said that, it’s what baseball is all about. It’s a demanding sport that will require you to stay on your toes.

Meanwhile, a lot of potential trade scenarios have been flowing around the market since the Yankees concluded their 2023 season campaign. However, one trade offer recently suggested by a Yankee insider has caught the fans off-guard. It suggests that the Bombers should go for a less experienced guy by ditching Dylan Carlson of the Cardinals.

The New York Yankees’ top focus this coming off-season would be to acquire a strong outfielder who bats left. Since the left field is empty with center fielder Jasson Dominguez on IL for over six months, the Yanks lack serious depth. Thus, Dylan Carlson of the Cardinals emerged as an ideal candidate. However, Adam Weinrib of Yanks Go Yard believes Trevor Larnach is a far better and cheaper option. Larnach is an emerging talent with significant potential. As an outfielder for the Minnesota Twins, Larnach plays left field and is a switch hitter, a skill the Yanks could use to balance their predominantly right-handed lineup.

This year, he hit .213 with eight homers, 40 RBIs, and .727 OPS across 58 games. Adam suggests that rather than sacrificing Clarke Schmidt, Randy Vasquez, and Ben Rice for Dylan Carlson, the Bombers could hand over Randy Vasquez and Estevan Florial for Larnach. Trevor is a better and younger option compared to Carlson. However, acquiring the Twins outfielder could come with its own cons. He is still a raw and unestablished talent. Building trust in him could be a pure gamble move. Having said that, the Yankees are known for their dubious trade decisions. Moreover, with an unusual season like the one that happened in 2023, every other possibility is on the table. Nothing should be ruled out before the off-season kicks in and we get a much clearer picture.

Yanks To Reunite With Jordan Montgomery As Rotational Crisis Deepens!

Apart from the outfield, the New York Yankees also have a crisis in starting pitching rotation. Barring Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon, no pitcher’s place is fixed in the five-man rotation. Amid the lack of depth, rumors are swirling around the market that the Bombers are mulling a reunion with former starter Jordan Montgomery. Jordan served in the Bronx for six years, and injuries troubled him massively.

Thus, the Yankees chose to trade him to Cardinal, wherein the pitcher thrived. He has had the lowest ERA this year with the Cardinals and Rangers combined. However, whether or not Montgomery would be open to a reunion remains to be seen. He felt humiliated when the Bombers traded him after six years of association. Regardless, the negotiations would surely be interesting and entertaining for the fans.
