The New York Yankees offense has been on the downside for over a few weeks owing to injuries to key hitters. Giancarlo Stanton, the explosive DH, suffered from a hamstring injury last month and has been missing in action ever since. Further, the Bombers’ offense’s backbone, Aaron Judge, strained his hip in the last week of April and served 10 days on the injury list.

Fortunately, the captain returned within the set timeline without any restrictions. Judge’s comeback even reflected on the Yankees’ performance over the past week as they won a series and split one with the Rays. However, his pal, Giancarlo Stanton, is nowhere to be seen. Initially placed on a 15-day IL, the front office had gone on complete radio silence regarding his current status. However, recently, the Bombers skipper had a word on Stanton’s probable return timeline.

New York Yankees explosive slugger Giancarlo Stanton went off to a flying start to the 2023 season. In 13 appearances, he slammed four homers and 11 RBIs with a batting average of .269. Moreover, he also hit a couple of 400+ foot homers to record the second-longest hit of his renowned career. However, shortly after, tragedy struck the hitter as he suffered an unfortunate injury. Mid-April, Stanton pulled his hamstring and accordingly made his way into IL. While he was initially supposed to spend 15 days on IL, it’s been a month now since the hitter left the field.

Meanwhile, Yankees manager Aaron Boone has finally shared an update on Stanton’s injury and dropped hints on his potential return timeline. Boone said Giancarlo Stanton is moving around the outfield and did some defensive drills. So far, he has not displayed any signs of major discomfort. Hence, in about a week, the conditioning team will contemplate a rehab assignment for the DH. However, nothing is confirmed for now. Stanton is likely to continue with his drills and live BPs for now, and a probable return could still be weeks away. It’s safe to say the DH will most likely miss May and probably return somewhere around June.

Recently commenting on Giancarlo Stanton’s return, Yankees manager Aaron Boone reckoned that the hitter will continue playing in the outfield once he returns. However, the Yankee fan base is not too pleased with Boone’s plans for Stanton. They believe playing Stanton in the outfield is a mistake as it would significantly increase the risk of injury. The DH already has a long, troubling history with injuries, and fans suggest playing in the outfield will surely result in a season-ending injury to the hitter.

For what it’s worth, it could still be weeks before Giancarlo Stanton could return to the Yankees lineup. Sure, the manager has a set plan for now, but it could change quickly, eyeing Stanton’s recovery. Hence, the fans must relax for now and just pray for the slugger’s speedy recovery. Stanton remains the only missing piece of the Bombers’ fearsome offensive lineup. Hence, his return is crucial for the team’s success this season.
