Jazz Chisholm Jr was traded by the New York Yankees from the Miami Marlins at the midseason trade deadline with the simple expectation of upgrading the offence and third base. While Chisholm never played third base before donning a Yankee uniform, he has been surprisingly adapting well to the new role.

However, a potential injury concern could derail Jazz Chisholm Jr’s hot run. The New York Yankees recently suffered a mortifying 12-2 loss against the historically bad team, the Chicago White Sox. And to add to the shame, the outfielder-turned-infielder took a blow on his left blow while sliding home to score a run.

On Monday, the New York Yankees suffered a shameful 12-2 loss against the worst team of the 2024 season, the Chicago White Sox. After Luis Gil’s shaky four-run start, Enyel De Los Santos, the team’s mid-season trade addition, imploded with a 7-run finish in relief. To add to the misery, Yanks red hot third baseman Jazz Chisholm encountered a concerning injury. Chisholm, who was batting 2-for-3, flashed from second base to score on Anthony Volpe’s quick single. Jazz had to slide down to home to secure a run, and the White Sox’s catcher’s hard tap appeared to have hurt Chisholm’s left elbow. He was seen shrugging his left hand in pain before the White Sox doctor examined him.

Jazz Chisholm Jr was eventually removed from the game in the seventh inning as he felt a bit sore. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees confirmed that Chisholm had taken a blow in his left elbow, and the initial X-ray scans were negative. However, to rule out the chances of any bone or ligament damage, the infielder will undergo an MRI test on Tuesday. Interestingly, Chisholm addressed the media to share an update on his injury. He didn’t look much concerned as the tests were pretty positive. “I still feel it a little bit, still kind of sore, but I think we’re going to be good,” Chisholm said. Additionally, Yankee skipper Aaron Boone also agreed with Jazz’s assessment and dismissed any serious concerns. Boone is hoping the injury isn’t serious and that Jazz Chisholm can continue playing every day at third base simply because the Yankees need to utilise his red-hot offensive form.

Meanwhile, Chicago White Sox interim manager Grady Sizemore openly revealed his team’s approach against Aaron Judge. Grady insisted that his team would be extra careful against Judge to ensure that the Yankees slugger did not end up doing any damage, meaning that the White Sox would allow Judge intentional walks.

As far as the fans’ agitation is concerned, Grady Sizemore was unmoved by the outside noise. “I’m not worried about anyone else. They can go buy another ticket somewhere else,” Sizemore said. Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox pitchers followed their manager’s game plan, as in the series opener, Aaron Judge was walked intentionally twice.
