The 2024 MLB season is just around the corner. Spring training is not happening until next month. But the New York Yankees are early into the off-season grind. Apparently, multiple pitchers and hitters are already at the team’s training facility in Tampa, gearing up for the new season.

The sense of urgency seems a result of the horrendous 2023 season. The team finished fourth in AL-East with an abysmal record of 82-80. Thus, to reverse the narrative, the Yankees intend to bounce back in 2024. Meanwhile, general manager Brian Cashman recently addressed the media and laid out expectations for big man Giancarlo Stanton.

Giancarlo Stanton, once regarded as one of the most feared hitters in the league, succumbed to an all-time low in 2023. He finished the season with an all-time career worse .191 batting average. The hitter struggled to stay healthy and spent a major half of the season on the injury list. However, before wrapping up the 2023 season, the slugger promised a turnaround in 2024. Meanwhile, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman recently opened up on his views on Stanton. Notably, Cashman stirred the pot when he said that being injured was a part of Stanton’s game plan. The statement irked the slugger’s agent, and he called out the same in the media. However, after severe backlash, the GM has to clarify. Regardless, the misunderstanding is in the past. Now, the GM seems impressed with Stanton.

In his latest interview, Brian Cashman confirmed Giancarlo Stanton is in a good place with respect to diet and off-season conditioning. Moreover, the GM reaffirmed that he has no doubt in the slugger’s capabilities. He still thinks of Stanton as one of the most feared hitters in the league. Moreover, Cashman believes the slugger is working towards rediscovering his old self, which is a positive sign. Overall, the general manager has placed a lot of faith in the hitter ahead of the 2024 season. But only time will tell as to how much Stanton is able to reverse the damage. Not to forget, Stanton will continue to earn $30 million till 2027, irrespective of his performance on the plate. Moreover, with Stanton slated to play DH, he has to improve offensive production to prove his worth to the franchise as well as the fans.

New York Yankees top prospect Jasson Dominguez is currently in rehab owing to Tommy John surgery. He reported in Tampa earlier this month with prospect Tyler Hardman. The duo’s rehab process is apparently running parallel. And Tyler spoke to NJ Media and shared further details on Martian’s return timeline.

Typer Hardman says that he and Jasson Dominguez will start throwing from next month, followed by hitting in March. However, despite positive updates, fans mustn’t expect Dominguez’s return until the first half of the season. As a position player, Dominguez will be required to wait until 8-9 months before taking the field as a regular player again.
