Gleyber Torres has been making waves since his debut with the New York Yankees in 2018. As being a shortstop did not turn out well, the infielder thrived as a baseman. He finished the 2022 season with .257, along with 24 home runs and 76 RBIs. While a trade threat loomed over his shoulder for the whole off-season this year, the baseman managed to earn an extra life as he signed a one-year extension deal to avoid arbitration.

There was no looking back from that point. Gleyber Torres considers the Yankees as his second home and vowed to make a difference in the 2023 season. The infielder rightfully delivered on his promise as he emerged as the top-performing Yankee for the month of April. While his form tumbled for a week, the baseman still looks in good touch. Meanwhile, ahead of Father’s Day, Torres opened up about embracing fatherhood and how his son’s presence helps him in dealing with failures.

Yankees baseman, Gleyber Torres, embraced fatherhood in 2022 when he and his wife were blessed with a baby boy named Ethan. Torres believes his life changed shortly after. Just recently, the baseman had a terrible 0-for-4 outing against the Chicago White Sox, which left him highly disappointed. However, the grim face lit up in a matter of mere seconds as Torres set foot in the family room, wherein he saw his 14-month-old son, Ethan, waiting. The next day, Torres delivered a crucial two-run homer and contributed heavily to the Yankees’ 3-0 win. It’s safe to say the baseman’s son had a little role to play in the former’s resurgence. Meanwhile, ahead of fathers Day, Gleyber Torres opened up on how his life changed after his son’s arrival.

He said before Ethan was born, he would go back home and dwell a lot on his failures. Torres would constantly think about the errors he made and things that he could have done differently. Hence, the negativity of failures got the better of him. However, things changed after Ethan. Now, when he goes back home, he knows there is a little kid waiting for him to arrive. Moreover, as Gleyber sees Ethan smile, the negativity vanishes away like dust. The Yankees infielder admitted that Ethan’s arrival had changed his perspective and goals. Now all his focus is on doing the right thing to be the right example for his son to live by. Irrespective of what sport Ethan chooses to thrive in, Gleyber Torres will stand like a rock to support his son in doing things the right way.

Gleyber Torres is considered a veteran at the age of 26. As bizarre as it sounds, it’s not too far from reality. Torres made his debut nearly a decade ago with the Cubs and has grown into a strong infielder. He has been in the business long enough to understand the nitty-gritty of it. Regardless, after all these years, it is believed that Torres’ prime is yet to come.

Meanwhile, eyeing Gleyber Torres’ 2023 stats, this season could probably be the breakout year for the infielder. He last had a notables season in 2019, wherein he scored 38 home runs and made it to the All-Star. Cut to this year, he has already hit 11 homers, and it’s just June. Hence, Torres has a terrific opportunity to prove himself and also secure his future with the Yankees.
