But the Yankees owner mentioned that their payroll is “Not sustainable” at the moment. In reply, Boras said Juan Soto is a “Centurion, who is one of the Top 100 players to ever play the game.” For a Centurion, Boras believes the cost should not be the biggest thing to worry about. After all, whichever team signs the Centurion, their worth increases by a billion dollars.
Nevertheless, it does not look likely that the Yankees can offer a contract worth $500 million or north of it to the Dominican superstar. They already have two above $300 million contracts to deal with players like Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole. Considering this factor, Joseph Solano of the Yankees recently said on the Talkin Yanks podcast that he wants to see the love fest with Juan Soto in the Yankee Stadium. On Sunday, at Oracle Park, the Yankees were trailing 6-5. Later, in the ninth inning, Juan Soto hit a two-run homer to help the Yankees win 7-5 against the San Francisco Giants. That game, he hit the reigning NL Cy Young winner Blake Snell a homer too. Clearly, he is a “Centurion” who deserves all the rewards that come his way.
