Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees captain, has never been away from the limelight since debuting in 2016. He won the Rookie of the Year award before claiming an all-time high home run record and AL-MVP in 2022. However, this season kicked off on an abysmal note.
The New York Yankees captain was not himself on the plate and struggled to keep up with a .200 batting average in April. However, Aaron Judge invoked his inner MVP in May to register a surreal resurgence. During a recently concluded series against the Padres, Judge scripted a unique MLB history with his insane home run streak.
Aaron Judge Stuns MLB With Extraordinary Hitting Record
Aaron Judge has once again etched his name into MLB’s history record with a performance that defies expectations and showcases his extraordinary talent. Judge’s slow April start is history as the former MVP rebounded in May with a never seen before resurgence. In the past 24 games, the New York Yankees captain scored 11 home runs and 21 RBIs with a .383 hitting average and staggering 1.443 OPS. Moreover, in a historic moment, Judge became the only player in MLB’s history since 1901 to record at least 12 doubles and 11 home runs in any 20-game stretch, according to Katie Sharp. This milestone was unlocked with the help of a solo first-inning home run hit by Judge against Dylan Cease in the Yanks’ 4-1 victory.
Needless to say, Aaron Judge’s journey to this historic milestone has been marked by perseverance. Despite a slow start to the year, the former AL-MVP never lost any ounce of self-belief and kept working hard behind the scenes to get his swings right. Aaron Judge, since the beginning of the slump, needs to hit strike zone balls, and consistency in connecting hits would surely fetch him results sooner rather than later. And his belief paid of in May as Judge suddenly landed back in MVP conversations despite recording .170 average in May. Additionally, Judge’s resurgence has had positive impact in Yankees overall results as with a 37-18 record, the Bombers are seated that the top of AL-East table, that too two games ahead of Baltimore Orioles. Hence, as the season progresses, Judge will continue to remain a key piece of the team’s offense.
‘We Got A Lot Of Work To Do’ Judge Downplays May Resurgence!
Aaron Judge spoke like a true leader when he was made aware of his MLB record. He downplayed his offensive resurgence saying that it’s just May and the Yankees have still a lot of work to do. Judge added that it’s a long season and these short surge in form in a part of the process. But the key is consistency.
“I think the most important thing is staying focused and trying to improve every day,” Aaron Judge said after the Padres series. The Yankees captain also addressed past criticism saying he does not dwell on the past as he as a job to do. “Especially in New York, you gotta show up every single day. I wasn’t showing up, so I understand,” Judge added.
