Aaron Judge is a threat any opposition would want to neutralize early into the game. And Baltimore Orioles did the same on Tuesday in the series opener against the New York Yankees when Albert Suarez hit the captain with a 94 mph fastball in front of a packed Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees captain was pissed but was helpless as we walked out of the game to get CT and X-Ray scans done. When Aaron Judge returned from hospital, he had good news to share, which indicated that the slugger would not necessarily have to miss time. However, Aaron Boone stunned the fans as he penciled Wednesday’s lineup.
Aaron Judge Treated Day-To-Day After Getting Hit By Pitch Vs Orioles
New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge appeared relieved when he informed media personnel that his CT and X-ray scans had come negative. The slugger was hit on his bottom left hand by Albert Suarez’s wild pitch and had to exit the game. While Judge’s hand was sore, he insisted manager Aaron Boone to let him play on Wednesday. However, the skipper disallowed Judge’s request. As the Yankees released Wednesday’s lineup against the Baltimore Orioles, the captain was scratched off as Trent Grisham took his place in center field. Boone later informed that Aaron Judge’s hand was fine but a bit sore. Hence, the Yanks have decided to treat it on a day-to-day basis. Not only that, but the skipper is confident about the captain’s return on Thursday.
That being said, the New York Yankees paid the price of Aaron Judge’s absence as they suffered a narrow 7-6 loss to level the series. Giancarlo Stanton scored a three-run bomb to tie the scores before the Orioles hammered Clay Holmes to take the much-needed win. Regardless, the series is still open for the Yanks. With Aaron Judge likely to take part in the series finale on Thursday, the Bombers’ should be good. Notably, Judge is leading the AL-MVP race with a .302 batting average, 26 home runs, 64 RBIs, and 1.115 OPS in 74 appearances. He is also leading the early voting trends for the All-Star game. Hence, when a captain is in such kind of form, the New York Yankees would want him to take the field every single day. Hopefully, the injury scare does not turn into something disastrous for the New York-based team.
Alex Verdugo Fumes At Orioles For Plunking Judge
Aaron Judge getting hit by a pitch had the entire New York Yankees dugout fuming in frustration. Alex Verdugo threatened to confront Albert Suarez after he plunked Judge with a 94 mph fastball. Even after the game, Verdugo was mad at the Orioles, stating that nobody gets to come after their captain.
That being said, Aaron Judge revealed that he was pissed initially when the ball hit his hand. But at the end of the day, it’s a part of the game, and he cannot accuse anyone of intentionally trying to knock him off. Overall, as Judge avoided a bone or ligament tear, the Yankees can breathe a sigh of relief.
